About me:
Republican Ken King is a conservative candidate for San Diego’s open 52nd Congressional District. A lifelong business owner and family man, Ken believes that it’s time to do his part to reform our Congress and our Republican Party.
Ken King has been a successful local business owner for over thirty years. As the founder and President of El Cajon-based San Diego Pools, he has spent a lifetime creating jobs, signing paychecks and investing his time back into the San Diego community.
A San Diego native, Ken King was born in Mercy Hospital and graduated from Greenfield Junior High School, Granite Hills High School and San Diego State University.
A proud and active member of his community, Ken King is a member of the Alpine Kiwanis and Rancho Santa Fe Rotary where he has been the past President of both organizations. Ken King and his company have consistently dedicated both time and resources to help San Diego. For example, on three separate occasions, Ken has donated pools worth $50,000 to help raise funds for Children’s Hospital. He also has actively supported the East County Boys and Girls Club, Kids Korps, Alpine Youth Soccer, National Charity League, San Diego Special Olympics, Alpine Little League along with many local community and senior centers, just to name a few. These endeavors have helped earn Ken the honor of receiving the Alps award for Man of the Year and to twice be the recipient of proclamations from the County of San Diego.
In 1992, Ken King was elected to the Alpine Planning Group, where he served for 4 years. In 1997, he was appointed and in 2000 elected to the San Dieguito Planning Group, where he served as Chairman for 4 years. As the Chairman of the Alpine Parks and Recreation Committee, he spearheaded and oversaw the establishment of the community’s first county park.
In 2004, Ken was elected to Rancho Santa Fe Board of Directors and was President in 2006. There he successfully lowered property assessments for homeowners while consistently maintaining a balanced budget.
Today, Ken King is a candidate for the United States Congress where he is seeking to represent the same area where he was raised and given opportunities to become a success, but like many Republicans, Ken is weary of candidates who say one thing to get elected and then do another in Washington D.C... In his own words:
“I’m not going to Congress to start a long term political career. I’m going to Congress to demand our Republican Party return to it’s conservative values. I’m going to Congress to vote for reform. And if I have to step on some toes to help the politicians remember that they work for us and not the other way around, then so be it.”
Ken and his wife Jill are the proud parents of two sons and four daughters. They live in Alpine.
