All About The Kong The King Kong Club The Home of Enthusiasm! The King Kong Club 8th season in association with Eardrumbuzz. in The Village, Wexford St, Dublin 2. What it is: The King Kong Club is a free weekly electrified musical games-how. It has been running for seven six-month seasons over the past five years. We have found the best new live music in the country and rewarded the winning acts with great prizes that give them an amazing launch pad on their career path. The King Kong Club supports new music at a grassroots level and hands the power to the people to vote for their favourite act in a rollicking riot of a live event. How we run it: Each week we have six bands play three songs each. It is free for bands to enter the competition, but they must sign up via our website in advance to register. At the end of all the performances we do the legendary clap-off. We roll out our Clap-o-Meter – a unique eight foot replica of the Empire State Building, each floor of the building lighting up to measure audience reaction to their favorite act. Visually this makes the audience scream louder and louder, turning the venue into a frenzied cauldron of noise and excitement as fans of each group shouts on their act to greater heights. After the energetic tension of the competitive performances this is our special fun-filled way for musicians and audiences alike to let it all out in a uniquely enjoyable way. The winning act goes through to a semi-final and it all culminates after six months of hot competition with The Grand Final, held in front of a capacity crowd with the added bonus of a panel of celebrity judges. FUN FUN FUN !!!! What’s in it for the Bands: ØExposure to a core audience in order to build a fanbase ØExperience in live performance in a critical and respected venue, The Village. ØEvery band is interviewed and recorded live on our very own radio show on RTE 2XM/2FM called the King Kong Radio. ØEvery band is filmed for our channel on YouTube called King Kong Club TV. ØEach semi final winner wins a prize; Slots at Irish music events Vantastival, Knockan-Stockan, Life Festival, N.P.L.D Festival, Temple House Festival, support slots at album launches for well know bands and free recording in local music studios. ØThe Grand Final Winning Prize The Grand Prize! We are taking the winning band to Portugal to record an album with Morrissey’s musical director Boz Boorer for 9 days in his superbly appointed residential studio. Flights, accommodation, food and drinks are all included. Boorer has worked with Madness, Elvis Costello & Kirsty McColl amongst others, but it is as the legendary Morrisseys co – songwriter, guitarist and arranger that he has forged a formidable reputation within the music industry. The King Kong Club offers the winning act an amazing opportunity to work with a person of this stature. We are also giving the winning band a high quality, fully produced video to promo their lead single from the album.

About me:
Since it was founded in 2005, the King Kong Club has been committed to supporting the Irish music scene and also the promotion of unsigned bands through the competition. Over the years the prizes have been a reflection of this commitment and from 2011 onwards, the competition will be taking on a national format. This will see the King Kong Club coming to Cork, Galway, Carlow, Mullingar and Belfast in addition to the Dublin heats. With the overall final being staged in Dublin.Who I'd like to meet:
We are all about the music. We want to hear from any unsigned bands as the promotion of this element of the music scene is a big part of what we are about.Top Friends (23)
