Zum Beispiel 1956, irgendwo in Amerika, wo ein 18 jähriger Truckdriver in den SUN Studios verstaubten Bluesliedern und traditionellen Bluegrass Songs neues Leben einhaucht, indem er den weissen Hillbilly mit dem schwarzen Blues mischt und somit einem bis dahin noch völlig ahnungslosen Publikum den "neuen" Beat den sogenannten Rockabilly präsentiert.
Die KING LOUIE COMBO ist ein Beweis dafür, dass dieser Musikstil weiterlebt. In ihren Liedern besingen sie die Liebe ("Honeybee"), schnelle Autos ("Hard Top Race") und das unbeschwerte Lebensgefühl ("Cattin' around"). Sei es sentimental schnulzig oder rauh und treibend schnell - ein Kontrabass, eine Gitarre, ein kleines Schlagzeug und eine melodiöse, volle Stimme genügt um den Zuhörer in eine längst vergangene Zeit zurückzuversetzen: irgendwann 1956...
Do you remember the time when the first amplification systems were used to give instruments a new and stronger sound? It was in 1956, when a 18 year old truckdriver in Memphis Tenessee walked into the legendary SUN Studios. Not just because he wanted to meet some well known musicians at the time: he had an idea of a brandnew sound in his mind. He took black Blues and traditional Bluegrass Songs and mixed it up with the "white man's" tunes - Hillbilly. Done this, he gave this new beat a new name: Rockabilly.
KING LOUIE COMBO is the proof that this music isn't dead after all these years. Their songs talk about love ("Honeybee"), the joy of life ("Cattin' around") - and of course about fast hot rod cars ("Hard top Race"). The trio is composed of the classic rockabilly backline such as guitar, drums and upright bass. Their tunes are very melodic, the rhythm goes from swing to jive, from bop to stroll.
