"I DON'T KNOW YOU"
King Magnetic got involved in hip-hop in the 90's....from rockin’ house parties to 4 track demo tapes. The crimes followed shortly after. Kicked out of high school, he turned to the streets full-time. While Magnetic was on the run, he opened for The Fugees in PA. Once arrested, he did 8 months in juvenile. Shortly after his release, still wilding, he caught 18 months-5 years for more robberies. He honed his rhyming skill (with help from Quarter Pound) and gambled on the poker/spades tables. Granted work release with recording privileges, he locally released "Mic Lovin' It" with DJ Arm 18 and Jinx Da Rhymesayer. They followed up with "Freshly Squeezed Juice" (re-released through MP3.com as "Live Bait" in 2002). Then Magnetic caught a parole violation and was sent upstate for the remainder of his 5 year sentence. Shortly after maxing out, Magnetic got locked up in New York with a gun and drugs. After a summer on Riker's Island, Magnetic made bail and began selling his beats to up and coming artists while performing as a solo artist.
Facing up to 14 years, Magnetic knew it was time to slow down and start a family. From knocking people out for breathing to changing diapers in a year was a drastic, but necessary change. This evolved a new focus in the music as well as in life for the King.
In 2004, Magnetic teamed up with Godilla for the mixtape "It Is What It Is" over all DJ Premier instrumentals. Then in 2005, Magnetic produced "The Sound of Philadelphia" and supplied vocals on "Crumbs" for Reef's "Feast or Famine" LP (Good Hands/EC). After some time off spent with his family and gambling, Magnetic hit the studio to begin recording his solo material. While recording, he was invited to appear on the new Army of the Pharaohs (AOTP) album by Vinnie Paz of Jedi Mind Tricks. Other AOTP members include: Apathy, Celph Titled, Chief Kamachi, Crypt the Warchild & Planetary (of OuterSpace), Esoteric (of 7L & Esoteric), Jus Allah, King Syze & Reef the Lost Cauze. Magnetic appears vocally on "Black Christmas" and "Drama Theme" on the 2007 Babygrande release.
In December 2007 Magnetic released his pre-album "Everything's A Gamble" LIMITED EDITION to the public, as well as "Brrr-aat !!!" a 16 song mixtape featuring Reef the Lost Cauze, Planetary of OuterSpace, Snowgoons, Tug McRaw, King Syze, Godilla, Sha Stimuli and others. Now "Everything's A Gamble" Digital Edition is on iTunes, eMusic.com, hiphopsite.com and more.
