Influences
My influences are numerous, way too many to list. I do want to give some recognition to a few peeps though: Locally- Gary-O, A1, Booth, Raydar, Shaolin, Love, Funk W, Merritt, Rob Vaughan, Red Eye, Squirt, Phooka, Demarkus Lewis. Also, Icey, Sharaz, Adam Freeland, Freaky Flow, AK 1200, Dara, Aphrodite, Dieselboy, Rap, Baby Anne, and many many others I've neglected to name.... sorry, to any I missed, nothing personal.
This breakbeat DJ began listening to dance music as a child. The oldest offspring of a pair of OLD school club heads, Shifty has been in or near the club scene since before he was old enough to attend events. At the age of 19, a friend gave him a set of old belt drive turntables and a few records to practice with. What followed can only be described as a match made in heaven. Eventually choosing the name Shifty, not because of his character, but based on the definition... Shifty means tricky or resourceful, and it is evident in his work for those that have seen him play live
Shifty has been rocking dancefloors since he first popped into the public eye at the Dallas Music Festival in February of 2005. At this point, he had been a bedroom DJ for 11 years, honing his skills at house parties all over Dallas. Luckily, he was heard by a booking agent at one such party, and asked to perform at the festival there on the spot. With mixes and links being hosted on websites as far away as the UK, he is starting to make waves around the world.
Shifty joined with DJ's Psyckosis (RIP) and Krisp-X of the Psyckodelic Force, and with the Abandon House Family during the Summer of 2006. This has opened even more doors. In the summer of 2007 he moved to Phoenix, Arizona in hopes of spreading his breakbeat vibe even further. Now a veteran party DJ having headlined desert parties, and opened for DJ's such as Madame Filth, Monk, Freaky Flow, Wutam, and many more. Returning to Dallas in late 2008, he plans to break back into the DFW S..scene. Thanks to everyone out there who has listened to me, and for all the feedback.
