About KING OF THE FOREST w/ Skindred December 13th!
King of the Forest released their debut album, 'The Nerve' in October 2008. Previous months spent recording paid off as the album received outstanding reviews such as 'Best Local Release of 2008' in Recoil magazine. Formed just seventeen months earlier, they all had one common goal and that was to write and record amazing music.
Born in May of 2007, the band started out playing covers of their favorite songs while trying to find their 'sound'. Sisters Michelle and Kitty along with cousins Joe and Willy formed the band with Louis Howard on drums. They often could be heard practicing in Bellevue out on Hill road. Entertaining crowds at parties throughout the summer and fall, they finally took the stage for the first time at Planet Rock on December 23, 2007.
In April of 2008, along with new drummer Fred Trogdon the band continued to play local shows while preparing to hit the studio early that summer. As they spent over four months recording music with Chris Frankhauser of Raygun studio, they opened for National Acts such as Filter, Theory of a Deadman, Pop Evil, Red, Cinder Road, Fixer, Egypt Central, As Summer Dies, Keith Caputo, Neverset, Ligion, and others.
Immediately after the release of their new album, Fred abruptly parted ways with the band. A good friend of KotF, Bill Hutchins sat in on the drums to prevent any downtime for them. November 2008 enter new drummer Michael Censke. Mike was infact, the 'missing piece of the puzzle'. Now that the band was equally yolked they began writing songs that outshined that of their Freshman album.
King of the Forest started out the new year of 2009 stronger than ever. Opening for bands such Taproot, Bobaflex, Pop Evil, Tragic Orange, Ashes of Soma, Defiance Pointe, and Skindred, while working on their second album, 'Intensive' which is due to be released in early 2010. Plans for a National tour are currently in the works along with some other amazing opportunities! Keep an eye on our page for updates and new music!
