About me: ..
..
The Black Panther is the title given to the chief of the Panther Tribe of the African nation of Wakanda. On top of ruling the country, he is also the chief of the various tribes (collectively referred to as the Wakandas) that comprise the nation's population. The Black Panther uniform is a symbol of office and is used even during diplomatic missions. The Black Panther is entitled to the use of a heart-shaped herb that grants the person who consumes it enhanced strength, agility, and perception. The current bearer of the Black Panther mantle is T'Challa, who has had a lengthy career as a superhero, including a longstanding membership in The Avengers.
T'Challa is the son of T'Chaka, who was the Black Panther before him. In the distant past, a massive meteorite comprised of the sound-absorbing mineral vibranium crashed in Wakanda, and was only recently unearthed. Knowing that other, more powerful nations would attempt to manipulate and dominate Wakanda for this rare and valuable resource, T'Chaka concealed his country from the outside world. He would sell off minute amounts of the valuable vibranium while surreptitiously sending the country's best scholars to study abroad, consequently turning Wakanda into one of the most technologically advanced nations in the world. Eventually, however, the explorer Ulysses Klaw found his way to Wakanda, and using lies and subterfuge covered up his work on a vibranium-powered sound-based weapon. When exposed, Klaw killed T'Chaka and many other Wakandans, only to see his "sound blaster" turned on him by a grieving T'Challa, who was then barely a teenager. Klaw's right hand was destroyed, and he and his men fled.
T'Challa earned the title and attributes of the Black Panther by defeating the various champions of the Wakandan tribes. He then studied abroad before returning to his kingship. To prove himself worthy as the defender of his people, T'Challa attacked the Fantastic Four and defeated them in individual combat before revealing his reasons. After making up for the poor first impression with a sumptuous welcome, he persuaded the team to help him battle the returning Klaw. Klaw soon returned as a being made entirely of living sound. T'Challa became romantically involved with the American singer Monica Lynne and began a long association with the Avengers.
Powers and abilities:
T'Challa is a brilliant tactician, strategist, scientist, tracker and a master of all forms of unarmed combat whose unique hybrid fighting style incorporates acrobatics and aspects of animal mimicry. T'Challa being a royal descendent of a warrior race is also a master of armed combat, able to use a variety of weapons but prefers unarmed combat. He is a master planner who always thinks several steps ahead and will go to extreme measures to achieve his goals and protect the kingdom of Wakanda. As King of Wakanda, the Panther has access to a vast collection of magical artifacts, technological and military hardware, as well as the support of his nation's wide array of scientists, adventurers, and superheroes.
Weapons Paraphernalia:
T'Challa's Vibranium-weave uniform absorbs the kinetic force of impacts, rendering him bulletproof. His costume's gloves can generate energy daggers and house anti-metal claws that dissolve other metals on contact. His Kimoyo Card enables global communication, picks up satellite signals, and can block most radio transmissions. His boot soles are thick Vibranium alloy pads which can vibrate at various frequencies, allowing him to run up the sides of buildings, land soundlessly and without injury from a height of 50 feet, walk on water, or slice through metal. His costume is fitted with cloaking technology, allowing it to pass as normal street clothes. He also has access to the many specialized weapons and vehicles of Wakanda. The extent of technology T'Challa has access to is believed to be limitless.

The Afrikaaner Party Draws First Blood: Van Jones, Barack Obama and the Audacity of Capitulation By Tim Wise September 6, 2009
Van Jones, special advisor to the President’s Council on Environmental Quality, has resigned from the administration. To be honest, he was forced out. Oh, perhaps not directly, but if not, then by the stunning silence of his employer. An employer more concerned about appeasing the right-wing bullies who sought to make Jones a liability for him, than about standing up for a brilliant thinker on both economics and ecological issues, and confronting the conservative talk-show hosts who have libeled and slandered Jones (literally) over the past month.

Juliet E.K. Walker. The History of Black Business in America: Capitalism, Race, Entrepreneurship. New York: Macmillan Library Reference USA. 1998. Pp. xxv, 482. $45.00.
Reviewed for H-Business and EH.NET by Maceo Dailey, Jr., University of Texas (El Paso).
In The History of Black Business In America, Juliet E. K. Walker makes a magnificent contribution to the literature on African American entrepreneurship and capitalism. Shattering myths, pointing to possibilities, and refining our thinking about procrustean racism, Professor Walker explores perceptively a world where blacks have been much maligned and vilified as incapable of mastering simple and/or worldshaking business attitudes and skills.
Writing boldly in her introduction, the author quickly alerts us to the value of the book: "Beginning in l600s, Africans in America, slave and free, seized every opportunity to develop enterprises and participate as businesspeople in the commercial life of a developing new nation . . . Why, after almost 400 years do we find black business activities in the late twentieth century existing at virtually the same level of industry participation as it did under slavery?"
King T'Challa, I've just won an auction for a (Marvel Legends) Black Panther, coudln't be more f-ing sweet!
I've read over some comic sites (i.e. newsarama or bam!kapow!) that the writers for both Black Phanter and the Ant-man are again making pressure to Marvel studios in their respective blogs for their work to be picked up before the Avengers movie hits on 2012.
Black Panther as an Avenger in the 2012 movie? I sure want that!
