DJ/Producer Gecko (Dave Johnston) is a familiar face in Bristol’s music scene mainly for his involvement with the infamous Kingpin club night. He also won the Bedroom Bedlam DJ award in Musik magazine back in January 2002 for an innovative deep house set and continues to develop an enthusiastic passion for music production. He is commonly associated with his varied sets of jackin techno, filthy house, electro and breaks. Gecko sites initial influence from classic dance acts such as The Chemical Brothers, Orbital and Underworld which are still behind his current desire to pursue an eclectic live act; although more recently he’s developed a more experimental love of off kilt house, techno and electro from producers such as Matthew Herbert, Akufen, Tim Wright, Hakan Lidbo and Si Begg to name a few.
