Blurbs

About me:

For over a century the three main buildings on Bloom street were the Corporation Gas Offices, Salford House and The Kings Arms. The Gas Offices closed long ago and the last residents of the hostel left in the 1990's but happily The Kings Arms is still in business. The original Kings Arms stood on a plot of land bounded by Bloom Street, Smith Street (the original name for Sackville Street) and Lamb Lane. It was across Bloom street from the present pub and was first licensed in 1807. In October 1850 The Kings Arms was advertised to let by the Adelphi Brewery (next to The Brewery Tavern on the corner of Cleminson Street). The new tenant was Thomas Holden and when he was leaving in September 1858, the advertisement stated that the pub had been selling seven barrels of beer a week for seven and a half a years Before the Kings Arms was rebuilt, Bloom Street was lined on both sides with houses, shops and beerhouses. (more history when we get a minute) Now the kings prides itself on real ale, real people, real food, real music and real theatre. Over the last six years, under the current management, The Kings Arms has established itself as the best pub in the world. With a good selection of real ale, fresh home cooked food, an award winning theatre space & music venue, artist studios and a lovely garden, The Kings has really found its place within the community as a meeting ground for the good people of Salford & Manchester. ........

Grouper (US) has her latest – Dragging A Dead Deer Up A Hill – of three albums on Type Records. She has also been involved in collaborative releases, contributing a track to Xiu Xiu’s Remixed & Covered and four tracks to a split release with Inca Ore. Her other contemporaries are Belong, Growing, Tim Hecker, Windy & Carl and Atlas Sound.

Jasper TX (Sweden), with a hefty back-catalogue of releases on labels such as Miasmah, and collaborations with buddy Machinefabriek, is an essential domestic appliance in the household of conceptual music. He is comparable to artists Fennesz, Sigur Ros, Múm and Tape.

Intricate and atmospheric songsmith, Danny Saul (UK) performs with different combinations of musicians, making each gig a unique event. His forthcoming release is "Harsh, Final", and he also performs with Greg Haines as Liondialer.

Fieldhead (UK) music delights in tape hiss, bleak landscapes and decaying analogue loops. He is also a member of The Declining Winter and Glissando. His debut album, "They Shook Hands for Hours" is released soon on Home Assembly.

    YOUR ATTENTION PLEASE…

Just like so many of My Space’s abundant artists and struggling musicians I’m trying to get my music heard by a few new people. If you have spare moment (and my approach has not put you off) please do drop by for a quick listen - You might be glad that you did…

New friends would be welcomed and any feedback would be really appreciated and taken in – even if you think I should give it up and return to my day job!

I’m a singer/songwriter just trying to get my music heard - I appreciate I'm far from being the first musician on My Space to whore themselves on a more successful artists page like this, but if you do have a spare moment please take a listen – you might be glad you did and if you are not and we ever meet, I will buy you a beer for wasting your time!

Please also feel free to add me or leave any comments or feedback – I always respond.

    Best Wishes

    Richie
