The Kingsboys were a young, Southern Gospel quartet from Asheville, NC that began traveling and singing in 1982. Jack Henderson and Calvin Runion, former members of the Kingsment Quartet, were singing locally in Western North Carolina in a group called The Land of the Sky Boys and came up with the idea when they met two young members of a local group that included brothers Kevin and Kenyon Clark. Jack knew of another young singer named Jason Camp and Calvin's son Jeff rounded out the first four members. Jim Hamill, lead singer for the Kingsmen Quartet, was instrumental in the early days of the development of the group and through the association with the Kingsmen, the group took the name The Kingsboys. At the time, the four ranged in age from 11-15. Calvin, Jack, Kevin and Kenyon's dad Kenneth, and Jason's dad Glenn travelled in the early days driving the bus and overseeing the operation of the group.
As the group matured and various members left and joined the group, the name was changed to Chronicle in 1990 and continued under that name until 1992. The group toured exactly 10 years, with their very first concert Labor Day weekend 1982, and the very last one Labor Day weekend 1992. Kevin and Kenyon remained with the group during its entire history.
