About me: Tee Smif, Hip Hop's best kept secret, is a Brooklyn Native New Yorker who is a 13-year veteran in the Television/Film/Music industry.
>
Tee has been widely sought after for his expertise in various creative business ventures. He got his first glimpse of ‘The Industry’ after breaking into the business as an extra for Malcolm X. He got his first start in 1994, just a sophomore in college when an opportunity arose for him to be an intern with Spike Lee on the film Clockers. Thus, beginning an upward spiral into the film industry. His work with Spike Lee includes; Get on The Bus, He Got Game, Summer of Sam, where he performed the duties of extra’s casting associate and is featured in Bamboozled and the up and coming Inside Man starring Denzel Washington and Jody Foster.
>
As an employee of Winsome Sinclair & Associates he continued working with Spike, while being involved with highly rated box office movies such as Woo (Executive Produced by John Singleton), Belly (Directed by Hype Williams), American History X, New York Undercover, and Amistad (Directed by Steven Spielberg), performing the duties as casting associate.
>
Being a Jack-of-all-Trades, Tee Smif has under his belt the title of producer, director, and writer. In 1999, While simultaneously putting on a new hat as a Creative Director and Music Video Director for JamBetta Records, he worked with long time friend and up and coming music producer Bruce Waynne (Midi Mafia). Thus, inspiring his transition into the music business. Upon embracing the music industry, Tee worked with artists from Jay-Z to Nas to producers like Kanye West to Just Blaze. He is currently working with Family Ties Entertainment developing an up and coming artist on Atlantic Records named DEEMI.
Tee Smif is currently a nationally sought after music video director. His dynamic storytelling has the ability to “Organically place the viewer within the world inspired by the theme of the track.” To date Tee Smif has done over 30 nationally broadcasted and independent music videos.
His most current accomplishments to date are a documentary called ‘THE BEAT’S THEME’ about Hip-Hop's origins featuring Kanye West, Irv Gotti, Just Blaze, and Swizz Beatz, to name a few. This documentary is currently being sought after by various film distribution companies.
Tee Smif also heralds his fingerprints on a feature film entitled Fade to Black featuring rapper Jay-Z on which he was entrusted by Roc-a-Fella Records to document and film the making of the artists final album before his retirement. Thus, earning a Cinematographer title on the film. Fade to Black is currently on DVD.
This multi-talented rising star founded The Kings County Cinema Company and is currently working on a script for television entitled ‘Bklyn Rain’. Other television ventures include being a cinematographer for BET News and MTV News.
