Mandolinist and lead vocalist, Brad Einhorn, founding member and guitarist for the popular Brooklyn-based Bluegrass group, the Cobble Hillbillies, started the Kings County Strings band in spring of 2008, as a representative group for his stringed instrument shop - www.kingscountystrings.com. Since then, the band has quickly drawn an impressive following in the NYC area, frequently entertaining crowds in Brooklyn's Prospect Park and headlining nights at popular roots music venues like the Jalopy Theater and Freddy's Backroom. In their short time as a band they've already shared the stage with members of Uncle Earl, Crooked Still, the Mammals, and the Punch Brothers.
Their debut album, recorded in late 2008 at David Moore's Biscuit House studio, features a great mixture of the band's varied musical interests. Banjo-whiz, Matt Check drives the Bluegrass numbers, guitarist, Joel Turoff never fails to impress with his improvisational Jazz inspired flatpicking, violinist, Kari Groff shines on the fiddle heavy old-time tracks, and bassist Walt Wells, of the Jones Street Boys, adds his own touch to the tunes, simultaneously exhibiting a true sense for the feel of the tradition.
If you're a fan of Bluegrass and Old-time music with a strong emphasis on tight vocal harmony work, give KCS a shot. We think you'll dig it.

"The Sweet Hollywaiians have probably the best feel for this 20's music of any string band working today. They manage the rare feat of sounding relaxed even when their playing is hot, are top notch musicians with tasteful arrangements and a full, rich, warm sound.Plus, they have a nice gamut of tunes, from King Nawahi to Giovanni Vicari to Bobby Leecan.
