Kingsfold are husband and wife duo Fergal & Breda King. Originally from Ireland, they moved to the US in 1993 and have lived in the Chicago area since 1998. In 1999 they took stock of their long years of musical training and talents and decided to start performing some Irish music.
Their first gig was a tiny church social in Marengo IL.
Their second gig was the Lakeside Green lounge at the Chicago Hilton Towers on St. Patrick's Day - parade central! What a rise to fame!!! ;-)
Since then they have performed over a hundred gigs all over Chicago - pub shows, festivals, private parties etc.
Fergal, who is originally from Tuam, Co. Galway, is a professional church musician by day (and often by nights and weekends too . . . goes with the territory!) He has played the guitar for 25 years and during performances also runs sound, bass pedals and various digitalia . . .
Breda is a native of Kilkenny. Often described as having the "voice of an angel", she is a professional teacher of voice and piano. From time to time she will belt out a tune on the flute during gigs.
Fergal does NOT have the voice of an angel. However, he can muster up a good imitation of a smoke-filled, whiskey soaked growl when the occasion calls for it . . .as smoke-filled, whiskey-soaked Irish pubs often do . . .
