Snakes, real name Quinton Emerson started pursuing music at the age of 14. Influenced by artists such Jay-Z, Biggie, Slick Rick, Big Daddy Kane, and Mase he began to work on his craft as a rapper. His work ethic was established early as he would constantly write lyrics and practice his delivery. At the age of 16 he started a label, Iceberg Records with friend Brandon "B" Stevens. They released a his first 1st mixtape "Iceberg History". Shortly after Snakes was met his dj, Dj Dru and they began performing at local teen nights and concerts. The buzz they created led to a successful mixtape series featuring exclusive freestyles and remixes from Snakes. After high school he began opening up for artists like Method Man, Joe Budden, Lil Jon, Lil Scrappy, Juvenile, B.G. and Twista just to name a few. Then, after growing tired of the direction his music was going, he decided to change the name of his label from Iceberg to Fresh Music. Fresh Music represents the new direction and progression in his music. Not just because of the references to fashion but because it's refreshing. In an over saturated music industry where most people are portraying characters, Snakes chooses to just be himself. Songs like his 2005 hit "So Much Pressure" prove that. 2005 also marked the year he began producing tracks. So in 2006 he released the critically acclaimed "Generation Next Vol 1". It marked the birth of Fresh Music and the first time he released music that he produced. Now he's currently hard at work on the highly anticipated follow up "Generation Next 2.0" scheduled for release in the 1st quarter of 2009. So stay tuned because the best is yet to come.
