In a time when Rock and Roll seems to only fall into two distinctive categories, candy sweet Pop Rock and ear-splitting Heavy Metal, the musical emotion of King Zero defiantly stands apart from both genres. Bringing a sound reminiscent of the music you grew up hearing, yet still originally fresh and inspiring, the five individuals who make up the band blend a diverse and varied background into their own unique alternative sound.
King Zero came into being a few years ago in Austin, Texas with the teaming of vocalist Paul Renna and guitarist Dave Self. Playing the local scene with three other musicians, the group quickly gained a strong foothold and working relationship with local club owners and booking agents. Sensing that the group was not reaching its full potential, the duo of Renna & Self left their bandmates and relocated to Dallas, determined to find players who would better fit in with the sound they were trying to create in their songwriting.
Renna & Self soon brought together guitarist Tony Palmer, bassist Stacy Ellis, and drummer Todd Hatchett, forming a lineup capable of the music that they had envisioned. New songs began to flow from conception into completion and the band was soon in high demand, playing some of the most popular venues in Texas largest markets: Dallas, Houston, Austin, and San Antonio.
Skillfully capturing their unique sound in the studio, the group has recently released their first self-titled album. King Zero is now ready to branch out beyond the security of their home region and take their music and performance on the road. Emotion is what separates King Zero from the pack of typical bands playing predictable tunes today. The music is as familiar and comfortable as Classic Rock, while remaining as fresh and invigorating as the songs topping the current Billboard charts. This is the appeal of King Zero. Music the way you loved it then, and the way you love it now! Spread the love...
