HISTORY
Kinky Vinyl was founded by Whoop!s Joel Xavier & Andy Lekker along with producer / dj Mike Monday in 2001. It was born out of their love of funk in music and a widening taste within the house genre. The slick logo and the unique black tactile PVC sleeves as well as the tunes leave no one in doubt that Kinky Vinyl is all about quality, sexy house music.
Since its inaugural release - Guy Gerber presents A.D.Ds - Flamer / Soon, the label has amassed huge support from a wide cross section of djs, critics & the record buying public, seeming to please both the House purists and the Prog heads who, having tired of stroking their chins, are looking for something a little more fun and funky but still tough.
The quality house music that Kinky's A&R team have been sourcing from the UK & worldwide countries such as Israel, France and Australia has seen every release entering the DJ Magazine Hype Chart Top 20, many have entered the Buzz & Coolcuts Charts and most recently Stephane Malcas Revolution (kink8) was the Radio 1 VIP Tune on Seb Fontaines Saturday night dance show. The label has also commissioned remixes from Mike Monday, the godfather of house Marshal Jefferson, Alex Planet Funk Neri & Dusk to name just a handful of top quality producers the label has been working with. In the summer of 2004 Kinky Vinyl established itself on the airwaves with The Sucker DJs Lotta Lovin (remixed by Kinkys very own Paradise Soul) becoming Pete Tongs Essential new Tune on Radio1 being played a massive total of 14 weeks on his show. This has established The Sucker DJs and Paradise Soul as main players in production land! More recently Wonderland Avenue's - WhiteHorse has been a global success!
The versatility and appeal of Kinky Vinyl tunes has also seen success in being placed on many compilations all over the world, in fact, licensing has been a large growth area for Kinky Vinyl with tracks even obtaining syncs for TV Advertising in the US.
