Hello there my name is Kip Williams. I am a drummer and I currently play in the Kip Williams Quartet. The Kip Williams Quartet features Grammy Nominee James "Saxsmo" Gates, Dr. Weldon Hill on piano and Brian Cruse on bass.
I have been playing drums since I was nine years old (seems like only yesterday). I am primarily a jazz drummer but I play other styles of music including but not limited to Rock, Fusion, Latin, Americana and more. I have shared the stage with such artist as Little Feat, 38 Special, Little River Band, Ray Charles Orchestra, Chris Whitley, Paul Reed Smith Band and more. I have recorded or performed with such names as Roy Ayers, Robbin Thompson, Steve Bassett, Nick Jazzy, Jimmy Herring (Grateful Dead), Oteil Burbridge (Allman Brothers Band), Butterbean Quartet, Richmond Jazz Quartet, Ernestine Jackson, Soulercoaster, Jazz Maniacs, Kings of Swing, Billy Ray Hatley and the Showdogs, First Impressions, Imperial Norton Trio, Keith Horne and more.
I look forward to meeting many of you in our next musical journey. Until then remember that TIME is not a magazine!
Your Fellow Drumbrother!

I'm proud to offer you "Heavy In The Beats Vol. 1 - A Different Drum", the first installment in my FREE mixtape series dedicated to drums and percussion. "Volume 1" focuses on the avant garde side of the instrument, and features pieces from Billy Martin (of Medeski Martin & Wood), myself, and others! Enjoy!
