I’m really an actor, but I like writing books because I can play all the parts, men, women, boys, and girls; and no director to criticize me. I work on a scene in my mind, I say “Kirk, that’s terrific!” I write it down.
Just a quick note of gratitude for all your remarkable performances throughout the years! May you continue to prosper and enjoy many more years of the work you enjoy so much!
I realise I am a day late as usual but I hope you had a good Veterans day. I Salute your service and mine!
Dropping by to say hello to a great man, a great actor, and to someone who cares. Cares about young people, about humanity, and seems grateful and content. At 92 to be writing blogs and still making a difference that admirable. So hello Kirk. Have a blessed coming week end. Thanks..
Mr. Douglas, thank you very much for adding me as a friend. I am honoured by this, as I am a fan of your work, especially The Last Sunset and Lust for Life. I would like to thank you for your career, and giving us memorable performances. I wish you all the best and I tip my hat to you sir.
Love you cuz! When you are feeling alone like no one cares, read this cuz its absolutely true: Every night, someone thinks about you before they go to sleep. At least fifteen people in this world love you. The only reason someone would ever hate you is because they want to be just like you. There are at least two people in this world that would die for you. You mean the world to someone. Someone that you don't even know exists loves you. When you make the biggest mistake ever, something good comes from it. When you think the world has turned its back on you, take a look. Always remember the compliments you've received. Forget the rude remarks. So if you are a loving person, send this to everyone on your list including the person who sent it to you. Your Friend Cathie
G'day Kirk, Thank you very much for adding me, I really appreciate that mate and thank you for a lifetime of fantastic entertainment. All the best, Ross
Good Morning Sanits; Let's pray that God would give us wisom to understand Him and knowledge to surpass all trails and tribulations. Romans 8:26 & 27 v26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. v27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. Have a Blessed day in Him.
I just wanted to say hello. You have met so many people in your long career that you may not remember my father. He was Duke Hickey, director of east coast publicity for Universal International back in the early 1960's. One of my treasures is a postcard from you saying, "hello," while you and my dad were having dinner. This meeting with my dad was during a publicity tour for Spartacus. I met so many celebrities as a young boy, and always have regretted not having met you. Spartacus, Paths of Glory, Lust for Life, what great films! Thank you for all the wonderful performances and hours of entertainment you have brought over the years. You are an inspiration to so many! May God always bless you.
I am most deeply honored to be added to your list of friends here. I found myself reflecting on the fact that your cinematic image has been part of my life for as long as I can remember, and that I am about as familiar with your illustrious filmography as I am with my own history. Please indulge me in a very personal memory. When I was around eight years old, my parents took me with them to see "Lonely Are the Brave." I am supposed to have what is incorrectly termed a "photographic memory," and the image of the tragic denouement of that film was burned into my mind that very evening. I did not see the film again for many years, but I always remembered in intricate detail that tragic and heartbreaking final scene. The image of your character lying in the middle of a rain-soaked highway, and the sound of your horse, Whisky, squealing in death agony, deeply affected me. Your facial expression, particularly at the moment poor Whisky is shot, is unforgettable and iconic. That film, and especially that scene, illustrate the enduring power of the cinematic image when excellent acting, writing, cinematography, and direction come together in harmonious balance to create a kind of perfection. My fondest wishes to you. Sincerely, Shane Usary.
