   About Kirk Swan
Grew up in Ct. First band, singer in punk band replacing my older brother who went of to college. Started played bass then switched to guitar. Started writing songs and formed first real band, the Suburbanites (ruralites would have been closer to the truth). Broke up and formed the Stray Divides with city folk Mark Mulcahy, Spike Priggen, and Ray Neal. Mark and Ray would later form Miracle Legion. Moved to Boston to form DUMPTRUCK with Seth Tiven. Left Dumptruck, formed Boo Radley (not the Boo Radleys). Played and toured with Steve Wynn, Russ Tolman, John Wesley Harding, etc. Recorded first solo record. Recorded second solo record. Hey Kirk, Byron Lyons the keyboard player from October Days stopped over last night. I'm going to help him digitize some old tapes of the band. I had not seen him in 25 years but he asked about you and I told him to check you out on FB or MS. Later, Ron Sutfin - The Peacock Flounders

Mediocrity doesn't know excellence, it thinks it is excellence because in music and other art, it is often rewarded with success and fame.

Guitarslingers True West will headline the first-ever Portland edition of International Pop Overthrow on Saturday, 8/23 (http://www. internationalpopoverthrow. com/Schedule-Portland-2008. htm).

Riding out of the west coast neo-psychedelic Paisley Underground in the '80s, True West went on to record three albums and be part of what the UK press dubbed "The American Invasion" in 1985, returning to tour the States with REM later that year.

Last year, Atavistic/Touch And Go Records released Hollywood Holiday Revisited, a CD collection of True West's first two albums Hollywood Holiday and Drifters, along with three extra tracks produced by Tom Verlaine of Television in 1983.

It's like this: You are sitting at your typewriter, simulating work. The city editor approaches with great celerity. He's the big shot in the roofless cement office, and he speaks a name and a location - a horse stall in a deficiently populated town, with nary a sawmill. Then he turns on his heel and is gone.
Can you beat that for service?
