   About Kirsten & Dave

by LayoutGeneratorMyspace.com

Kirsten & Dave's diverse backgrounds are the key to their success at performing a variety of musical styles. Whether they are playing acoustic pop, country, acoustic blues or folk/bluegrass, their love for music is obvious. Playing a variety of instruments, Kirsten & Dave swap off melodies and harmonies as they play a mix of covers and original tunes. They have many decades of performing experience between them and they have been playing together for six years. ************************************************************** Kirsten Manville grew up near Boston and studied piano and flute from the age of eight. She performed in school band, chorus, and drama. Kirsten attended Bowdoin College while continuing to study flute and voice. She also sang in the Bowdoin Chamber Choir. During her senior year she took up guitar and began composing and performing in a folk trio. She graduated with a BA in music in 1995. That fall she moved to Nashville where she worked for the Nashville Symphony and sang in the Nashville Symphony Chorus. As if that wasnt enough music for her, on her days off she went and performed at local Nashville coffeehouses. Shes kind of a show-off like that. Back in Massachusetts, Kirsten continues to hone her considerable songwriting skills. ************************************************************** Dave Simmons played trumpet and sang in the chorus in grade school. At puberty he had trouble getting used to his new voice, so he began taking guitar lessons. Eventually he learned how to sing again. In 1991, Dave got involved in the local community cultural scene and began producing, as well as performing in, local cultural events. He also found time to play rhythm guitar in a 7-piece blues, ska, and swing jazz band. Eventually he began to prefer the sound of the acoustic guitar, but once in a while he still likes to drag out the old Telecaster. Dave tries to get out and play every chance he gets, whether its solo or in a combo. He needs to keep busy in order to stay out of trouble.

RALLY AGAINST GREED: "Balance The Bucks" Concert in D.C.
Photobucket
“Balance The Bucks,” a free concert program to be presented on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., is slated for 2 pm Sunday, September 6. The unprecedented musical performance will feature artists from across the country on stage at the Sylvan Amphitheater adjacent to the Washington Monument.
The concert will feature a line-up of original tunes focusing on issues such as economic justice, redistribution of wealth, salary disparity, bailouts, foreclosures and the general impact of rampant greed.
Event organizer and host Delmark Goldfarb hopes to “try to punch a hole in the cloud of money influence which soothes and smothers the Capitol.”
For further details and/or to be a part of the sing-out, contact 503 708 7306; Del.Goldfarb@hotmail.com.
