KisTone is an emerging Pop/Rock band from Sydney, Australia with a unique sound full of catchy
melodies, edgy guitar riffs, soulful piano and finely blended vocal harmonies.
The members were
formerly part of the band Jeapster and have been generating music industry interest in Australia,
the U.S. and Europe over the last few years.
In May 2008, KisTone entered the studio to record their debut album with award winning Sydney
based producer, Lindsay Rimes. Having already won MusicOz and ASA awards, his credits include Born Crain, Anthony Snape, and Kayne Taylor whose single reached 1 on the Australian charts. Recently the album garnered interest from Grammy nominated producer John Fields (Lifehouse, Switchfoot, The Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus) who mixed several tracks in his Los Angeles studio in January 2009.
2007 saw the reincarnation of Jeapster into KisTone. With fresh inspiration and a new sound
they rose to prominence when out of thousands of unsigned bands, from across Australia, they were selected as one of six top finalists in the NOKIA 'Be Heard' Competition. They were ultimately chosen by thousands of fans as first runner-up and as part of their prize received full press coverage and a special live performance on MTV Australia.
After gaining notoriety, the band was selected for the Australian Poker League's nationwide
competition to create a new theme song. Out of hundreds of entries, KisTone's song was chosen to represent APL's National Advertising Campaign, which aired extensively on radio and television across the country.
While known as Jeapster, the band recorded an album with renowned Swedish producer Adam Kviman (Jewel, Eagle Eye Cherry's 'Save Tonight' – one of the most played songs of its year) and engineer Brian Sperber (Moby, Everclear, Tom Jones, 3 Doors Down, Staind, Fuel) which went on to sell 5,000 copies independently. They were then selected by Sydney's largest radio station, NOVA, to play the half-time show at the Rugby Semifinals in front of 38,000 fans broadcast live on Fox.
In addition, KisTone were selected as HitQuarters 'Artist of the Week' and were brought out to
Los Angeles to work with producer Rudy Haeusermann (Matchbox 20, Tina Turner, Snoop Dogg,
Rob Zombie) to record an EP. While in L.A. the band played sold out shows at famous venues,
such as The Whisky A-Go-Go and The Viper Room, building up a fast following of fans.
They have attained radio play from Sydney to Los Angeles, earning high rotation on some of Australia's largest radio stations, including NOVA 96.9 FM, Triple M 104.9 FM and FBI 96.5 FM. While on their 2006 Los Angeles tour, the band received airplay on L.A.'s famous KROQ 106.7 FM.
Due to the highly soundtrack-able nature of their Pop/Rock sound, four of their songs were chosen and aired on Nickelodeon's 'Beyond The Break' TV show.
With an ever-increasing fan base, extensive airplay and a new music video, KisTone are currently
wrapping up production on their album Way To Nowhere, which was recently nominated for a
MusicOz Award. They are currently in the United States to tour and play showcases for
the album.
