dude, you sound just like me 3 or four years ago when i was learning. "i didnt want to get any anyones way." you wont. dont worry. they will look at for you. you learn the fastest when you kite with people that are better than you. they will give you pointers and you pick it up 3 times faster. my dad kites there everyday if the wind blows. i live in nc at wrightsville beach. i kited at hefner one time like 3 years ago. it was crazy. keep it up.
