All About Kitten Rescue

Kitten Rescue is an all volunteer, non profit, no-kill organization devoted to finding loving new homes for unwanted and abandoned cats and kittens. Founded in 1997, Kitten Rescue is Los Angeles’ largest cat rescue organization, with over 150 volunteers. Many of our cats are rescued from city shelters at the 11th hour – right before they are scheduled to be euthanized. We also take in strays, kittens born in feral colonies, and cats from members of the community who are committed to making a difference in the lives of these animals. In 2008 Kitten Rescue adopted nearly 1,000 cats and kittens to new homes.

The majority of Kitten Rescue’s animals are placed into private foster homes where they are cared for by our volunteers until they are adopted. Dedicated volunteers care for bottle babies, moms with litters, cats that need socialization, and sick and injured animals. Kittens are offered for adoption no earlier than eight weeks of age, with a minimum weight of two pounds. Potential adopters are screened for suitability. Kittens are vaccinated, dewormed, tested for feline leukemia (FeLV) and feline AIDS (FIV), and are spayed or neutered before being released to their new owners.

Unfortunately, we receive many more calls for help than we can answer. Volunteers are always needed to foster abandoned cats and kittens, staff adoption events, work at one of our facilities, help with transportation, fundraising, assisting with paperwork or publicity and for numerous other jobs. Donations are also welcomed to help defray the cost of rescuing shelter animals and to pay the cost of veterinary care. The average cost of each cat we rescue is higher than our minimum adoption donation, so we rely on donations to let us save more animals.

Kitten Rescue's Sponsorship Program:

The goal of Kitten Rescue’s Sponsorship Program is to raise money for Kitten Rescue by connecting cats housed in Kitten Rescue’s sanctuary with cat lovers like you! The Kitten Rescue sanctuary is home to approximately 150 cats at any given time. Many of these cats require special medical attention, are not socialized, or are unlikely to be adopted for a number of other reasons. These cats live out their lives at the sanctuary, if necessary, and Kitten Rescue is dedicated to providing them necessary and loving care. In the Kitten Rescue Sponsorship Program, donors sponsor a sanctuary cat to help Kitten Rescue cover the costs of caring for these cats and the sanctuary they live in.

Kitten Rescue's Sponsorship Program is a perfect gift for all cat lovers, especially those that are unable to adopt a cat of their own. Visit the Kitten Rescue Sponsorship Page to learn more about our adorable cats and to sponsor one today. Click here to learn more!
Here's a video of our newest addition to the sponsorship program - Adam. Be prepared to laugh!
