Sounds Like
It's been said, Annie Lennox, Enya, Stevie Nicks. Which might be something like: Soulful but soft with a smattering of throaty warble.
Otherwise, i sound like me.
My pro music life started as the vocal half of Marshall Hain. "Dancing In The City" was a European smash in 1978 and still gets enough airplay to help with the grocery bills - including recent (2008) airing in the popular Brit series Ashes to Ashes (now on BBC America!)
After 2 solo albums for Phonogram I moved from London to New York in 1985, playing regularly with my band at CBGBs, the Bitter End and the (then) brand new China Club, before shifting focus to writing for others rather than performing. I've written with and/or for Aimee Mann (Til Tuesday), Cher, Cyndi Lauper, Fleetwood Mac, Heart, Judy Collins, Peter Cetera & Chaka Khan, Selena and The Temptations as well as European artists No Angels (German pop idol winners), Caroline Henderson, Maggie Reilly and Trijntje Oosterhuis. I released another album in Belgium in 1995, and guested lead vocals from time to time on various albums including producer Thorne's Sprawl (2001) and Contessa's Party (2003) albums.
My songs are periodically licensed for TV usage (most recently in The Unit and MTV shows The Hills and The City). Movie credits include 2 songs in the infamously dreadful Pirate Movie, and the end title cut in Sylvester Stallone’s Eye See You.
In July 2007 and 2008 I participated in Song City, a Belgian event writing with local artists including Milow, Stan van Samang, Udo and Eva de Roovere. I feel really fortunate to have met and worked with each one of them. Below you can see videos of singles written with Milow and Stan including Milow's latest "Out Of My Hands" which has just been released in Belgium (March '09) on the heels of his massive hit with 50 Cent's "Ayo Technology". Even though i wrote the song with him, his heartfelt and honest rendition still moves me to tears. He's a serious talent and I have a feeling he's going to break worldwide.
And for Francophiles (like me!) I'm still collaborating with a French lyricist, Francois Welgryn. We first met in 2003 in Paris and continued to write over the 'net. We just finished 4 new songs and I reckon some of them will be seeing the light of the airwaves soon. The golden-voiced Lauren Faure has also just released a DVD including a song she and I wrote, "Un Peu D'Amour." She's a classy, classic talent.
On another front, I recently completed my first young teen fantasy novel. Finding the right agent and publisher for it may take a while so I'm grateful my day job is the kind of which it's usually said "don't give up your day job"...
One more new project - not mine - is my husband Jon's record of retrojazz/lounge-with-deepforest-beats instrumentals, under the name GALAXY LOUNGE. Very cool!
Other passions include sunshine, shamanism, yoga, walking, reading, Paris, sushi and chocolate.

Given all that is going on Which requires the indispensable Attention of your dreams
My wish for you is To walk in the beauty Of the joyous waves of the first blue light Under the quarter moon which is disappearing In the purple and pink of a summer dawn
My wish for you is To keep your ears acute and attentive to all life To be able to listen to the song of a lark, high above the golden wheat In the full power of a summer high noon
My wish for you is To become intoxicated with the perfume of a honeysuckle, a rose or a wisteria To remain sensitive to the hot, spicy breath of a summer afternoon
My wish for you is To catch all the incandescent specks of dust Floating in the sunbeams To feel the little shadows coursing over the prairies of a summer evening
My wish for you is To be in the beauty In front of you Behind you On your right On your left
My wish for you is to detach the moon My wish for you is run faster than the wind My wish for you is to be as useful as an old rusty nail My wish for you is to be rigging My wish for you is to be links
I hope you'll celebrate with me! I've been picked up for regular

Some day they'll learn words they'll have trouble understanding. Indian children shall ask: "What is hunger?" Alabama's children shall wonder: " What is segregation?" Hiroshima's children shall be surprised: "What's the atomic bomb?" And school children will question: "What is war?" And you will answer them, You will say: "Those have been abandonned like stagecoaches, galleys or slavery. Words that no longer make sense. Which is why they've been dropped from dictionaries."
