KARL Im now learning how to tattoo from a local studio. Sooooo much to learn, a lot different from wielding a brush I can tell you. Posted at 1:17 AM Dec 14 view more
About me: Karl James is a self taught artist working in regional South Australia. His work covers many media from heavy and brooding charcoal drawings to mono prints, etchings, luscious tactile collages and vibrant paintings in oil and acrylic.
Karl’s passion for art making oozes from these works. They become outpourings of ideas, arteries, feeding his love of discovery and a new language for emotional and intellectual activity. Inherent in all the work is the search for a sense of the artists place and what art making is all about. The making of art is mysterious and more often than not out of the hands of the artist. It seems to originate from somewhere else; the place of poetry and passion, Karl’s works are part of an ongoing cat and mouse, a chasing, stalking and pawing at the very idea of Soul.
For Karl art must have soul, poetry and mystery. Let the viewer think what he will. Art is not absolute and it shouldn’t be. One should not try to destroy the mystery of life as science does but rejoice in it. This is the place of the artist.
For Karl the making of art is like trying to catch a most beautiful butterfly that is always just out of reach.
Karl James is a multi award winning artist and his work has been exhibited widely.

Karl, it has been a very long time since last we spoke. You have been on my mind, and I am just stopping by to say hello and send you my best regards. I hope that all is going well for you, my friend.
Best wishes to you and yours for a wonderful holiday!
Just bringing by a little Christmas cheer to your page, starring yours truly, friend Les, son Matthew and my old Clownie and ol' Paper Head (from a 3D model I made of myself last year). I do hope that it gives you a laugh! OH! How'd the butterfly go?
Have just come back from my weekend getaway and thought I'd bring my Saturday nights Aussie bonfire to your page! How's the tattooing going? Are you actually practising on live people???
I love too your peintures and I wish you a happy Christmas and a lot of inspiration in 2010. If you understand french or germen, that will be easer for me to write you.
This music will move what is in your soul. Sadness, happines, lonelyness, love... Only you know what there's in your soul at the moment. Have a nice weekend. Peace and Light with you, Karl. Laura
...Jah Glory in the morning my friend! What's your view on Violent sex? Now, what's your view on Sex Violence? Eh? Eh?!?! Tuff topic...maybe even humorous at some point...but then again, what's humorous these days?! Eh? EH?!?!
I'll be really interested to hear more about you venture into tattooing. One of my boys is interested in doing that kind of thing when he's older...just have to keep away from the bikies!!!
Just bringing by to your page, a pic I snapped last night from my front door! Unfortunately I forgot the camera was set to manual focus, hence why the tree is not in focus, though I thought that you would appreciate the beautiful colours of the sky anyways! Hope you like!
GOSH!!! THAT EXPLAINS WHY I THOUGHT I FELT SOMEONE BREATHING ON MY KNEES THE OTHER NIGHT, WHEN I WAS SITTING AT MY DESK!!! I shall have to check dark nooks'n crannies more often!!!
