Komakino played their first show on Valentines Day 2004.
In July 2005 they released ‘Say Something’ on Drowned in Sound Recordings - a 2000 copy limited edition single which sold out nationwide in 3 days. Around this time the band travelled to the BBC’S Maida Vale studio for a live set on Steve Lamacq’s Radio 1 Evening Session.
Other releases include a 4 track 2006 Tour E.P. and the song ‘Innocent Child’ which featured on the 2006 Dance to the Radio compilation ‘What We All Want’.
With their energetic, incendiary and often riotous shows, Komakino have fast gained a reputation as one of Britains best live acts.
Amongst others Komakino have toured with Bloc Party, Razorlight, Maximo Park, The Cooper Temple Clause, Hope of the States, iForwardRussia!, Youthmovies, and Metric.
They have also played shows with The Killers, The Kaiser Chiefs, Editors, Brett Anderson, Cursive, The Dears, The Pigeon Detectives, 65 Days Of Static, and !!!.
Komakino have enjoyed triumphant sets at Reading and Leeds Carling Festival, o2 Wireless festival - Hyde Park, and The Great Escape Festival – Brighton.
In the studio Komakino have worked with Suede’s Brett Anderson as producer on the song ‘Shotgun Valentine’ and are currently working on new material with ex - Mansun genius Paul Draper at the controls.

They're named after a limited-edition Joy Division flexidisc from 1980 and produced by Paul Draper of Mansun, the band who should have been bigger than Radiohead but instead split up amid a welter of horrific mental breakdowns and financial wrongdoings.
So already you've got two valid reasons right there for at least investigating Komakino, "Britrock's best new band" according to one reliable music paper and "the missing link between the Cooper Temple Clause's balls-out space-rock and Idlewild's most fluent blasts of literate carnage" according to one clearly mad music website. Literate carnage? What's that, then? Reading Schopenhauer in the trenches? Yeah, must try that next time war breaks out.
But then, Komakino are the kind of band that invites irrational responses. Even the sensible, level-headed BBC are predicting that, after just two strictly limited-edition singles (2005's debut Say Something and an EP sold during their support slot on Bloc Party's 2006 fanclub tour), "they are poised to take over the world" (Komakino, that is, not the Beeb, who already own most of the Free West up to and including parts of Lithuania). This confidence in Komakino is proving infectious: frontman Ryan Needham has taken to strutting around the stage in his skinny jeans and tight polo shirt like a Pete Doherty too keyed up about the state of the world and the nature of existence to take drugs.
Meanwhile, the songs, aired on recent tours with Hope Of The States and Editors, are equally anxious and angular, terse and tense, tightly constructed emo-prog surges embellished with keyboards and Needham's gruff, grave vocals, with their intimations of personal apprehension and global cataclysm. Time to get those greatcoats and videos of The Day After out of storage...

I see what you are all thinking....You walk into the iTunes Store and see a generous amount of "I's" and "Tunes" fluttering around like Great Crested Grebes. Well in fact, its that overwhelmed by Marmite that its difficult for the Great Crested Grebes to get a look in.
It merely comes down to whether you would prefer to spend your designated pound coin on Marmite or as you may well know our iTune 'Play The Game' which clocks in at a miniscule 79p. Leaving you with 21p to spend on a pack of home brand crisps which are often referred to as potato chips in America.
Now your mission statement is to either Love it or Hate it and indeed go ahead and buy it.
