   About Klarcnova
Klarcnova started in Memphis in 1996 with founding members Andy John, guitar, Shayne Heather, bass, and Scott Glenn, drums. The premise behind the band has remained the same since the beginning -- to play original, improvisational music blending any and all influences of the musicians. At times they have been compared to Medeski Martin & Wood, Meters, Jimi Hendrix, John Scofield, and Bill Frisell. While in Memphis, Klarcnova played weekly at the "Daily Planet," just off the University of Memphis strip, and at the P&H Cafe. This is where they developed their sound. Klarcnova recorded its self-titled debut CD in 1999 at Easley-McCain Recording in Memphis with engineer Stuart Sikes. They moved to Asheville in 2000 as a band to start up again in a different town. They immediately began playing regularly at Barley's in Asheville and Greenville, and became popular on the house party circuit. In 2002 Scott left the band, and was replaced by Robin Tolleson, who has played with numerous bands on east and west coasts including Big Block Dodge, Hip Bones, Patrick O'Hearn and Gregory James. At around the same time, Andy and Robin also formed a trio with singer Molly Kummerle called Ruby Slippers. Shayne and Robin also joined a flamenco fusion group with guitarist Juan Benavides called Cabo Verde, and Andy did some recording and touring with a modern Klezmer group called The Lithuanian Empire. All of these projects, although divergent in styles, lend a strong influence on Klarcnova. Far from slowing down, the band is performing regularly throughout the Southeast, and recorded its second CD at Giraffe Studios in Hendersonville, NC. The self-titled CD was released on Groosion Records in June 2007.
