Klaus Wiese brachte die Lehren des Sufis Inayat Khan von seinen Reisen in den Orient mit nach Deutschland.
Er spielte bei der Krautrockgruppe Popol Vuh die Tambura. Wiese hat viele Audio-CDs unter seinem Namen veröffentlicht. Seine CD "El-Hadra, the Mystik Dance", die er zusammen mit Mathias Grassow und Ted de Jong produzierte, verkaufte sich weltweit sehr erfolgreich und machte ihn in diesem Genre berühmt.
Für Wiese sind mystische Elemente in der Musik essentiell und er betont die therapeutischen und heilenden Ziele seiner Arbeit. Durch Wiese ist ein Stück der Musikliebe der Sufis nach Europa gelangt, die sich von der klassischen Sufimusik abgrenzt aber dennoch Gemeinsamkeiten wie Ekstase (wagd) und Verzückung (hal) aufweist (siehe auch dhikr). Wiese benutzt persische Saiteninstrumente, tibetische Klangschalen, Chimes, Stimme und andere exotische Instrumente auf seinen Tonträgern.
