The punk-jazz-fusion group Klaus was born in 1999. The guitarist JUKKA PAJUVIRTA and the singer SANTTU PUUKKA started to create songs in Tampere, Finland. Later they started to rehersal with a drummer called ARI TENHOLA. At first PAJUVIRTA played rough bass and PUUKKA sang his weird lyrics with rage and anger.
Temporary guitar players were tested, but in 2000 ARNE SJÖSTEDT joined the band as a bassist and PAJUVIRTA started to play the guitar. With this line up Klaus did it's first gigs, and 2002 they recorded their debut ep VIERAITA TARINOITA (strange stories), wich was a 5-track release.
Next year the drummer TENHOLA (nowadays a member of CAUSE FOR EFFECT) left the band and he was replaced by MARKKU V.
In 2004 a female saxophone player SANNA TANNINEN joined the group and finally the present line-up was ready.
Klaus released a 9-track cd VIVE LE KUHNHACKL in 2005.
The band has played about 10 gigs every year, and this summer (2007) they are about to record new songs.
The music of Klaus is punky, but it has lots of elements of jazz and other strange shit. The restless rhythm and odd breaks make the music sound quite different from traditional punk- or rock groups. The lyrics are quite aggressive but include also humour.
The new songs, which are not recorded yet, are even more weird than the earlier stuff.
So let's wait and see what happens....................................................................
