This is a fun send up of the late night infomercial, but also a subversive poke in the eye commentary on the music industry, in how it treats music as just another product. If the suits could make music a spray product, and get rid of the pesky artist, stereos, ect, this is what it might look like.
Disjecta & Ninja Present High [Performance] Art + Music Symposium 2009 A benefit for the Wheels of Justice, Portland women's all-star roller derby team Saturday, October 24th / 7 pm - 12 am / $5 - $10 sliding scale / 21 +
Celebrating Portland's creative community, the symposium features dozens of local visual and musical artists showing, performing, selling & promoting their work at the fabulous Disjecta gallery & performance space.
Master of ceremonies & keynote speaker Tom Simonson, a local Artist Management Professional, will be interviewing all artists live, as well as shedding light on the current state of Portland art & music.
The Wheels of Justice all-star women's roller derby team will be in attendance with raffles and various hi-jinx planned for all. Portland's ferocious theatrical riff rock band, NINJA, will be performing in concert later in the evening.
Proceeds will be donated to the traveling roller derby team.
