Klicketty Elephant was formed as a result of, and hopefully a cure for, musical frustration, just before Christmas 1988. They started abusing the ears of audiences in late June 1989 and continued to do so until July 1990 at such prestigious venues as The Ruskin Arms, East Ham; Reids, Southend; The 59 Club, Hackney; and also appeared at The Magna Carta Bike Rally two years in a row, all in the name of fun of course.
The bands name came from a deep and meaningful conversation Andy, Chris and Nick had as they staggered past a Bingo Hall on their way back from The Evildrome Boozerama, an off-licence in the wilds of Dagenham. It was something about how ridiculous bingo calls are, but they were drunk so what do you expect.
In the days when bands were being so health conscious, serious and generally concerned about the environment (much the same as now really) it was good to know that there was a band who were just drunken, irresponsible gits, out for a good time.
Who says so?
The band, of course!!
Unfortunately the band are no more, mainly due to musical differences, the band were musical and the singer was different.
