    KNDY's Interests
General Hmm... I always have a hard time with this. Surfing, traveling, podcasting, trendwatching, digital artwork, cooking, reading, portable v. gaming, PC gaming, music, sports, perusing the web, collector and yada yada yada. I'm a guy who has a variety of interests and not limit myself to things. I'm definitely not the type of person who likes doing the same thing over and over again repeatedly and call that a life. There are so many things out there that are "interesting" and each day, I either try to learn or know about something out there that I can imagine myself enjoying. So, my interests continue to grow and grow...
Music

I listen to everything. Depends on my mood and everyday, it's always something new. I review music, so I keep an open mind to it.

One day, I can be chilling to Jack Johnson, Yellowcard, My Chemical Romance, 311, System of a Down, The Killers, Steel Pulse, Red Hot Chili Peppers and then all of a sudden, I get a craving for reggae and put on Steel Pulse, Bob Marley, Pato Banton. I often get the urge to listen to my favorite 80's bands such as Depeche Mode, the Cure, Joy Division, The Smiths, Jane's Addiction, old school Fishbone, Public Image Ltd., Mary's Danish and many times I like to see what's going on in Asia and I'll find myself listening to L'Arc~en~Ciel, Asian Kung-Fu Generation, X Japan, Ellegarden, Paris Match, Mr. Children, Kahimi Karie, Jay Chou, Faye Wong and last, I can chill and listen to Harry Connick, Jr., Frank Sinatra to Beethoven and Mozart and then go to the extreme of listening to System of a Down to Black Eyed Peas to old school NWA. So, my taste in music changes quite frequently.

Movies

I review a lot of DVD's and films and also buy a lot of DVD's. But it's somewhat gets out of hand in my household because I have too many and the ones I do buy...it takes me six months to a year to watch them because I have DVD's that I have to review. So, it's a weird situation.

I watch a lot of things but I tend to gravitate to action, romantic, sci-fi, Asian cinema and films that are artistically done. I also purchase a lot of DVD's relating to surfing. The only thing I don't watch is horror. Believe it or not, due to being subjected to watch "Carrie" and the "Shining" at a young age, I don't watch horror films. But all in all, I enjoy movies that encourage me to think or something to just enjoy.

So, what do I watch? Most of the movies on AFI's top 100 romantic films, a lot of Asian films from Hong Kong, Korea and Japan. And many surfing films. So, films like Big Wednesday, Endless Summer, Endless Summer II, Riding Giants, Dogtown & Z-Boys, Drive Thru South America and Europe, Aegis, Campaign, September Sessions, Thicker than Water, A Broke Down Melody, Kelly Slater's "Letting Go", North Shore, Gen-X Cops, Breaking News, Il Mare, Chung King Express, Shawshank Redemption, Goonies.

Television

Television huh? I enjoy many television shows but my busy work life tends to prevent me from watching it that I have to record it on my PVR or wait until it comes out on DVD's. I do have must watch shows during the week and they are "Lost", "Heroes", "Attack of the Show", "Man vs. Wild", "24", "Battlestar Galactica", shows on the Food Network, Discover, History, MTV and VH1. Also, a lot of ESPN or FOX Sports and whatever surfing programming I can get. I try to catch a lot of NY Yankees, Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Cowboys games on television. I also watch a lot of international television.

Heroes

If you mean people who have inspired me a long the way, then I can say that I have been fortunate to have good mentors in my life. People who helped me by giving me opportunities, to people who recommended things in my life to a political campaign manager who insisted at an early age that I should expand my horizons by reading the "New Yorker". These are part of my heroes. But I think everyone in this planet can be a hero by inspiring a friend, family member or a person to do something positive in life or even by stepping up to the person by intervention and so forth.

As for people that have been influential to me: JFK for the dream. Tony Robbins for teaching me to be a giant and Dave Ramsey for keeping me in check.

Now, if you were going to ask me about surfing...hands down... Tom Curren, Martin Potter, Tom Carroll, Derek Ho. Kelly Slater for the determination and drive. Sunny Garcia for perservering. Jesse Billauer for inspiring.

The list goes on...

I'm a business owner of a small but growing multi-disciplinary communications and design company. I am also an entertainment writer.

I do a lot of trendwatching of entertainment, pop culture, fashion and trends worldwide with a focus on Asia, Europe and of course, here in the USA. Since, 1993 I have ran a Japanese and Asian entertainment and pop culture Website called J!-ENT.

With that being said, I work with a team of creative and talented individuals. I credit my awesome J! press team for their hard work, determination, awesome photography and copy editing. It's all about team work and together, we succeed.

You can check out a few of my interviews and articles here or some of my older writeups over here. A lot of my written work and reviews can be found on the Web.

Watch live video from kndy on Justin.tv

I also happen to be a podcaster who hosts several shows which keeps me busy for several hours each week. The most popular show I host is J!-ENT Radio [The J!] dedicated to Japanese and Asian entertainment and pop culture.

And also coming soon, a live streaming lifecast of an extension of Metro Media Complexfor justin.tv.
