Knife Party was formed in early 2002 by lead vocalist/guitarist Cole Simmons and bassist Matt Bomkamp.
After a few line up changes the band settled in as a three piece with drummer Tom Hellenbrand.
While a three piece the band went from a garage band to a band with 2 cds under thier belt, and opening for bands like Presence, Machine Head, 36 Crazyfists, Slitheryn, Alston, and more.
After some of thier best shows on record, they were forced into hiatus when Cole left for Florida in late 2004.
Almost a year after parting ways, Knife Party reunited to play a show on July 4th, 2005.
This opened the door for the bands full return with added guitarist Kyle Wiessinger in November of 2005, playing thier first show as a four piece in Jacksonville, Florida a week and a half after Cole and Kyle first met.
The band quickly picked up where they left off, opening for bands like The Goodyear Pimps and Boy Hits Car.
In March of 2006 they were selected to be the featured band on WJJO's Local Stage program. Then in mid-2006 Knife Party went back into hiatus. It's been a few years but,
