So let's get to know Evil Daddy, shall we? I'm 5'8", weight right around 165, though that fluctuates like everybody elses' poundage. My hair is short, dark brown, and when I'm not feeling too lazy, it's worn in a flat top or spiked. I tend to dress comfortably, but I can clean up when the occassion calls for it. If you're meeting me for the first time and it wasn't prearranged, chances are you called 911 and I'm in my uniform. In that case, it's a pretty safe bet we're not exchanging niceties while I'm trying to make you feel better.

When I'm not on the job, I spend a lot of time at home making sure my son is fed, watered, and his cage is cleaned. But all joking aside, ever since my divorce in 2002, my son is a large part of my life. So much so that I think I may have forgotten how to be anything but a father. While it may show I have my priorities in order, I have to admit to myself that I really need to get a life outside of homework, soccer games, and Cartoon Network.

When I do get time to myself, I engage in reading and writing, although I have not wrote anything since November '05. I finished a writing contest in which the challenge was to finish 50,000 words in one month. I succeeded for the second year in a row, but my brain turned to grey jello. After that, I decided to quit smoking, so I stayed away from the computer because writing and smoking were two of my favorite hand-in-hand past times. I've been off the nicotine since December 20, 2005. Unfortunately, I've not put the proverbial pen to paper to compose another book (I've finished three). It's not that the ideas aren't there, but I just haven't found a reason to sit down and put them into form...yet.

As for reading, lately I've taken to classics. Nowadays, the works I tend to choose would make most modern readers cringe. I'll admit that the writing styles of certain authors (Nietzsche, Plato, Lovecraft) tend to make me read slower so that I understand exactly what's been said. In yesteryear, detail was crucial and an author's ideas reflected that need. Today, however, publishers want fast-paced narrative and all extraneous words removed from prose. Greats like Orwell, Huxley, and Clemens probably would have been torn apart by today's standards, and more's the pity to our era.

Not all my pursuits are cerebral. I also enjoy hiking and paintball, as well as anything else that seems to spark my interest that day. I've been known to fish just for the heck of it, pitch a tent in the yard for my son, or just skip rocks down by the river just to watch my son try to get it as far as me. With the right people and the right music, I've found I like to dance. At least once or twice a week, I take myself down to the local dojo so that my fellow Judoka (Judo students) can help refresh my bruises. When I have the money and time, I like to travel but I enjoy the works of God and history more than I do of modern man. I'd rather see a forest, mountain, or ancient monument more than I would a city or casino.

I'm also a conservative Republican Christian who is most comfortable with traditional gender roles, so I'll understand if you want to leave this page as quickly as possible to avoid smattering your liberal sensibilities with an opinion differing from your own.



While most of my blog entries will be quite benign, pertaining to issues that I, along with other single parents, have to deal with as a nurturing caregiver in a broken home, some of my rants will be considered offensive to extremists in certain movements. Because of this, I will be undoubtedly be branded by some as a chauvinistic, outdated bastard.

I'm fine with that. This is the United States of America. You are free to live your lifestyle and have your opinions.
