Sounds Like
A mellow Etta James mixed into a Rocky Norah Jones Some Bonnie Raitt touch of michelle shocked A bit of janis joplin thrown in and maybe some Melissa etheridge with a slice of Stevie Nicks and you have a touch of KNiKi
KNiKi arrived in the world somewhere near Bunbury, Western Australia. Delivered by her father, she was born blue and raised in Perth.
Her love of music was spiked at the age of fourteen when she started singing lessons with a small local music acadamy.
KNiKi started writing music at age of twenty with her friend Paula Murphy Within six months the girls assembled a garage band called Tempus with fellow musicians
After spending some time in Europe and North America, KNiKi furthered her musical studies with West Australian Musician and Conservatorium graduate Sue Bluch. Through Sue, KNiKi was introduced to Blues Musician JOHN MEYER, who facilitated the next stage of KNiKi’s song writing/music career.
KNiKi began writing her debut album STAINED at twenty-four, with co-writer and gospel singer/songwriter, ANDY JAMES COURT. KNiKi worked alongside COURT for 3 years, writing and refining the songs which would eventually be used on STAINED. STAINED was released in 2003. The release of this album was the culmination of a challenging 3 years for KNiKi and a trajectory many young artists experience; during the years leading up to the release of STAINED, KNiKi found herself submerged in a period of musical discovery, experimenting with various styles in order to find her true musical passion and niche in the industry. The end product is like a Martini to the ear; a delicate twist of jazz overlays KNiKi’s smooth signature blues vocals accompanied by MEYER’s Blues/Rock influenced backing.
KNiKi’s second album JUST was released in August 2008 at the Perth Blues Club, backed by John Meyer’s Blues Express Band. Currently, KNiKi and Meyer are writing KNiKi’s third Blues album yet to be titled.
KNiKi will spend 2009 doing the international festival circuit and touring Australia, commencing in February with The Australian Blues Music Festival in Goulburn and the Phuket International Blues festival, The Broadbeach Blues Festival in May Toyota Muster Gympie Queensland August 09 and The Bridgetown Blues Festival in November 09. You can also see KNiKi supporting the Bondi Cigars at the Perth Blues Club in March. During April, KNiKi will be performing at a private function in Indonesia followed by tours in June and September on the GOLD COAST and regional WESTERN AUSTRALIA.
KNiKi is also a regular on the Perth pub rock scene. She fronts the local cover band INDIGO ALLEY. Details of their gigs can be found at www.indigoalleymusic.com.
KNiKi’s signature sound is hauntingly powerful. Constantly seeking to expand her impressive vocal range, KNiKi’s original music is expansive and thought provoking as she takes her listeners on a journey of contemplation and self-discovery.
Internet marketing is carried out through her website and MySpace, www.kniki.com and www.myspace.com/kniki08. You may also view some of KNiKi’s performances online at www.youtube.com./kniki1. CD’s are available for purchase online and from various sources including CD Baby.

The dance is its own justification. It needs no excuse, nor do
the
many millions who share its delights need to be told how
beneficial
it is to them. They know that they are healthier and happier men
and
women, and therefore get more out of life and give more to others,
because they dance. If the purpose of life is, in the words of an
immortal document, the pursuit of happiness, surely those who
train
their bodies to move in harmony with natural laws are fitting
themselves for capacity to enjoy all that life brings. To live
well requires good physical health, for which a prime requisite is
an
abundance of pleasant exercise. Not alone to those who are free
from the necessity of the various forms of exertion that are
termed "work," but to every human being, exercise is as
necessary as food. To those whose daily callings involve
substantial physical labor, the need for exercise is just as great
as for those of lighter employments. And nowhere can there be
found so satisfactory a bodily exercise as in the dance. Sports,
outdoor games, horseback riding, etc., have their place, but are
available to a comparatively small percentage of all the people.
Now that the introduction of the automobile has turned America
into a nation of riders on soft cushions, the need for proper
exercise has become more important than ever.
