Sounds Like
Probably like a mix of the above but hopefully like myself:-)
I am a German-American free lance guitarist and relocated to New York City from Berlin (Germany) in 2004.
Growing up in a small village in Bavaria (Germany) I came across the guitar at the age of 8. As a teenager I started a band with a school buddy of mine. It was a thrilling experience. After a few years we had this 10-piece Funk/Rock/Jazz band and we ended up playing in front of 4000 people as an opener for the Billy Cobham band.
After that I decided to become a professional musician. I enrolled at the Guitar-Institute of Munich and went on to Berklee College of Music, were I graduated in '95.
After my years at Berklee I studied briefly with Jerry Bergonzi and also anticipated in workshops with Steve Khan, Frank Gambale, Kurt Rosenwinkel and Curt Verheyen.
I relocated to New York in 2004 and was working as a solo- and showband guitarist for Princess Cruise Lines until November 2006.
These days I perform around New York with my own trio, featuring Brian Holtz on bass and Andy O'Neill/Bill Mead on drums. I also improvise live along movies (Fritz Lang’s “Metropolis”) and I am a proud member of the NYC guitar duo with Tasmanian guitarist Kent Thompson (Tasmanin/Bavarian fire! We even played a function for German princess Gloria von Thurn und Taxis). Furthermore I collaborate with the remarkable singer/songwriter Emily Anne Smith (“Emme and the Swedes“) including our featured guest persussionist Gerardo Velez (Jimi Hendrix "Band of Gypsis, David Bowie, Sir Elton John, Nile Rodgers, Spyro Gyra, etc) and was very fortunate to perform with greats like bassist Marc Peterson (Cassandra Wilson, Lyle Lovett) and percussionist Hahlil (Roberta Flack). My friend Heather Sullivan, a great singer/songwriter from L.A. made it happen. Thanks Heather! I also tour in Europe with my German/Austrian improvisational Quartett Conundrum which I co-lead with viennese sax player Clemens Salesny.
Since 2007 I compose music for the mutlimedia literary webzine The Mad Hatters' Review. Do check them out!

I just stopped by to let you know I posted two news songs that I wrote on my page yesterday. Please come by and listen to them. The first song "The Waiting Song" is for everyone who has a loved one overseas and the second song "Dance with Me" was inspired by a rumba I watched on Dancing with the Stars last year.
Let me know what you think.
IRENE
P.S. The great Rique Pantoja is playing piano on both of these songs and Grammy Award Winning Scott Martin is on saxophone.
