HOT PINK BOSTON WITH THE FAINT!!!!
From dirty electro to house, acid, 90s, freestyle, dance-rock, bmore, 80s, and everything in between, Knowlton (Knoly) Walsh exploded onto the Providence club scene rocking turntables from out of nowhere in a relatively short period of time. However this didnt happen overnight. Music always seemed like a natural course for Knowlton, having been a musician from the young age of nine. Knowltons parents first noticed his musical talents when he began playing songs he heard on the radio on the family piano without any musical training whatsoever. He began training on classical instruments such as piano and clarinet and in high school, took his knowledge of musicianship and music theory and transferred it toward drumming, guitar, and songwriting in garage bands.
Upon leaving home and going off to college at Florida State University in Tallahassee, Knowlton was introduced to the electronic music scene in 1998 listening to a lot of European trance and progressive break beats that were popular in the clubs at the time. At this time he decided to continue his music efforts behind turntables. After working many afterparties and house parties in 2000, in Spring of 2001 he began playing at local clubs like Club Park Avenue and Late Night Library. That summer after getting bored with the formulaic glitzy production of the trance music he had been playing, Knowlton began taking interest in more of a funky house sound with a much more organic and soulful feel. After working to throw an old school style lake party called Gizmo that went overwhelmingly well, He picked up local residencies on Fridays at Club Jade, afterhour weekends at The Afterlife/Studio B, and Saturday nights on the terrace at Late Nite Library, as well as booking local shows for the Tallahassee Future Tribe and the Paradigm Music Project involving all kinds of music.
After moving to Providence, Knowlton soon realized that he had to start from where he did when he began 4 years and 1500 miles ago. Knowlton started playing smaller rooms at clubs like Therapy in Providence along with playing parties almost every weekend at The Goldmine with Mike Hoska. He has played at many smaller bars in Providence like Liquid lounge and Sikar playing more of a deep house sound, as well as playing at clubs like Hell playing with more of a rock/80s edge. In January 2004 Knowlton had his first gig at Plastic at Kamp in Providence where he had a tremendous crowd response to a mix of peak hour funky house and darker electro house. The summer upon returning from an inspiring trip to Ibiza, Spain Knowlton began a monthly residency at the Liquid Lounge in Providence, as well as holding down residencies at Pulse, Kamp, Diesel, Plastic, Energy and The Complex. You can currently find Knowlton playing every 3rd tuesday of the month at Club Energy for Energy on tuesdays, every other month next to international headliners for Volume Productions at Therapy, Axis, Boston Saturdays, Axis Thursdays, Bass Cadets at Shine in Cambridge, as well as once about every other month at the hottest nights in NYC. Knowlton Walsh has played with such headliners as DJ Icey, Stacy Kidd, Sharaz, Hatiras, Micro, Angel Alanis, Juju, Dara, Adam F, Hatiras, The Bassbin Twins, T-1000, Reid Speed, AK1200, Junior Sanchez, The Faint, Steve Aoki, Blake Miller, The Faint, Junior Vasques, Dieselboy, Dave Aude, Tommie Sunshine, Stretch Armstrong, Josh the Funky 1, Nigel Richards, Ashley Casselle, John B, and Donald Glaude.
In November of 2004 Knowlton Walsh began his production efforts with regional heavyweight Mike Hoska, completing a bootleg remix of Foreigners Double Vision, which was picked up by NYCs electroclash/dance rock icon Tommie Sunshine, where from there it passed hands to be played internationally by such DJs as Junior Sanchez, Steve Aoki, The Faint, Stretch Armstrong, Princess Superstar, Keoki, Felix da Housecat, Armand Van Helden, Charles Feelgood, and Donald Glaude as well as many many others. As well it was charted by Princess Superstar in her July 2005 top 10 as number 2, coming above such top artists as Missy Elliott , LCD Soundsystem, and Miss Kitten. Knowlton followed this effort in January of 2006 with his remix of ZZ Top's 'Legs' which he followed with his first all original electro monster '1.21 Jigawatts', which was signed to Danish label NOSI, and digitally distributed via System Recordings. Lastly, Knowlton Walsh has DJed in locations spanning from Tallahassee, Miami, Orlando, New York, Chicago, Providence, Newport, Boston, and San Antonio, Ibiza. AIM Headbangtotechno/Discostu80
