Once upon a time in the sleepy dark underbelly of Birmingham there were two stray koalas named Stevie K and Mr Ant. They had a vision, an urge to fufil their marsupial dream, to ween a new addtion to their fuzzy madness. Indeed, that dream came true! They didn't have to search far and wide to discover that their new little jewel was no other than the most fantabulous, gum grinding, sleaze popping danger girrrl named Miz. She owned the voice of an angel, the voice that inspired this almost complete slinky-packaged gem known as KOALA GRIP, just one thing was missing.... a drummer that would make their sound reverberate through you like it was a 30 minute set climax! this person was found in the boy that goes by the name of Dave....
Formed in the latter half of 2004, Miz (Lead Vocals), Stevie K (Guitar/Vocals), Mr Ant (Bass/Vocals) and Davie Goodspeed (drummer) all live in the upper Moseley region of Birmingham known to many as Kings Heath! It also homes many other creative peeps such as the media pets, Editors , The Holy Mary (Phoenix Nights) and and old punk band known as Spithead.
They decided and agreed that enough was enough. The lack of inspiration, colourful flamboyancy, creative charisma and will to to be weird did not exist, it needed to be designed...
Designed they did, with vengence! Dominated by an extensive history of wonderful music from the likes of Chicks on Speed, Peaches, Le tigre, Sleater Kinney, Sex Pistols, Sonic Youth, PJ Harvey, Soft Cell, X-Ray Spex, Radiohead, Blondie and Nirvana... to name but a speck on the universe.... they went forth, embellished and thrashed!
Koala Grip's mission statement is to penetrate and pulsate a unique and orgasmic style of powerful, energising punk riffs with pole driving bass attacks into a precarious, turbulence. Add blistering, perturbed, poignant but elevating vocals then you have reached the void!
