Kody Norris & The Watauga Mountain Boys
The Old Time Mountain Music
About Kody Norris:
At only 20 years old, Kody Norris from Mountain City, Tennessee, has been blessed to do more than most musicians could accomplish in a lifetime. In 2005 he had the privilege of traveling around the country part time singing lead and playing guitar with Dr. Ralph Stanley & the Clinch Mountain Boys. Kody has also completed stints with many other established musicians, such as Ralph Stanley II and the Clinch Mountain Boys, Sammy Adkins & the Sandy Hook Mountain Boys, Vince Combs & the Shadetree Bluegrass Boys, and has played with other musicians such as Doc Watson & Clint Howard, Alex Leach, Lonesome Will Mullins, and Mac Puckett. In June of 2006 Kody was made a KY Col. by KY Gov. Ernie Fletcher. For the last three years Kody has managed his own band ,Kody Norris and The Watauga Mtn Boys. Anybody who watches the RFD-TV channel on satellite TV has seen Kody and his band play on the Cumberland Highlanders show which is filmed live from Bill Monroes homeplace in Rosine KY.
Having played in nearly every state in the United States, Kody has already established himself in the business.Kody and the boys have had the honor of playng some pretty prestigious, venues during the past few years. During the 07 Festival season, Kody and longtime fellow musician Tom Isaacs, had the rare opportunity to perform at the Smithsonian and the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C, along with long time musical comrad, Lonesome Will Mullins and his VA Playboys. Kody was also featured in the Nov, 4, 2007 edition of the New York Times newspaper in the Kentucky Bluegrass article of the travel section. Kody counts these as two of his highest musical achievements thus far.
It has been said that Kody's show with the Watauga Mountain Boys is one that you will never forget. They have been described by some as one of the hardest driving, best dressed bands in the business today. They keep the traditional mountain sound alive, but add a new twist to their music. If you are interested seeing Kody Norris and the Watauga Mountain Boys or booking them for a show in your area, send a message and we will get all of the information to you.
