   About ’KOILE
KOILE: (pronounced koy-leh) Deriv. from puakoile (n) tokelau lang. an early stage of coconut, after the flower has fallen and before the milk is formed inside < coconut seeds >

'KOILE is a roots/reggae outfit originally dedicated to Marley anthems and sunshine grooves. The ancestral mix within this band has a strong umbilical influence on the sound that they create and is evident in the response to their performance of unwavering Pasifika roots with diverse facets of genres.

’KOILE is a southern-based collective presenting a potent cross-cultural mix of migration to Aotearoa anchored in the deep south of Otepoti / Dunedin.

PACIFIC ROOTS SOUTH

Pacific Roots South a celebration of local reggae bands as well as special guests from Dunedin – ‘Koile, kicks off an annual event of summer sounds in the winter, presented by Pacific Underground. Held next Saturday 11 July at The Bedford, from 8pm til late, Pacific Roots South also launches with a long awaited return of old school, R&B, Hip Hop and Soul DJ’s Ali & Soul Master Cee.

‘Koile who are regular participants of the annual Pacific Arts Festival here in Christchurch last appeared at The Bedford’s first gig in February this year, supporting legendary NZ icons of Reggae – Herbs. Their energetic sound of the Cook Island, Tokelauan and Samoan laced with log drums, congas and ukulele brought a true island flavour to the venue, a sound that will be delivered once again at Pacific Roots South.

Malo lava beautiful peoples, just breezing through my space, it's been a while since I checked Brown Roots' one lol:).

Life is great here in Meleponi, Ausetalia... am planning to come home for the 10th Christchurch Pacific Arts Festival, PU are running.

Love and Blessings to you all, sorry I didn't hang around for very long after your gig at Pasifika Festival, was pretty exhausted after ending up in Auckland Hospital the night before... took some magic vocal pill, that's meant to clear the throat etc... and I ended up being allergic to it hahahahahaha e!! the things we suffer for our art.

In true fob style I end up with huge swollen lips and a closed throat auoia!.

Anyway that's my story for the day.

Lesson learnt: Dont believe the hype!!.

Love you all - Pip, Hiliako and and crew

Love and Blessings Grace

Hey guys,
Just letting you know about an awesome gig next weekend in Dunedin,
Photobucket

Yes! The rumours are true, FEASTOCK FEST 09 will take place in the beautiful surroundings of number 3 Fea Street in the Pine Hill / Dalmore area of Dunedin on Sat 28th March 09.

In a nut shell it is going to just be a funking good time without having to take your hat off, you can wear steel cap boots if preferred (or if you would like to be intoxicated that is fine & dandy...)

The festival will run all day (10am gates open) and is a celebration of current Southern bands & artists. The day will go ahead rain or shine in true festival style… There will be a BYO - BBQ available, no glass, etc so pretty please come prepared for anything. No parking available.

Tickets are $10 (strictly limited pre sales only.
)
Available from 027 460 5425, hamlo937@student.otago.ac.
