Kokua - Hawaiian word meaning "Help or Assist"
Dave Matsumura has been leading worship and performing in various bands for over 10 years. In the spring of '07 he took a position leading worship for a season of Outdoor Education camp at Hume Lake. At camp the staff are supposed to choose camp names so Dave chose the name, "Kokua." He really liked the idea that, as a worship leader, he was there to "help or assist" you in connecting with God through musical worship. This is where Kokua was born.
Since then, by popular request Kokua has made a self-titled album that contains many of the most popular worship songs performed at Hume Lake. It is a project for the students. "I wanted to give them a cd that they could take home and remember their camp/worship experience."

thank you soooo much for leading the worship at hume lake 4/20-4/24. i really felt that it helped me realize God's grace and what he has done for me. it was probably my favorite part of the entire camp. i miss you already! please do a show in the bay area, i know a lot of people that would come. -angel
