    Differences make richness! Regis Kole has understood this and proves it with "Optimistic Soul" his first solo undertaking. He brilliantly brings us on a voyage to the border of his two cultures: Africa and the West His influences intertwine: they are as varied as Michael Jackson or Angelique Kidjo. The sparkle of this magnificent successful album comes without a doubt beyond savoury Soul-Pop to delicious acoustically mixed culture accents created by a simple "citizen of the world" with an eternally optimistic soul.. Regis Kole was born in Paris. He completed school in France before leaving for Benin then for Libreville in Gabon to continue his studies. But Regis Kole quickly became passionate about music thanks to his upbringing but also to Michael Jackson whose 1982 album Thriller was a revelation. He wallowed in the universe of eclectic music: we find songs by Angelique Kidjo, Polyrythmo and Fela. We also find major Motown talents along with Brassens for his poetic lyrics. Once back in France, while he continued his studies, Regis Kole created a vocal quartet in 1994: Esteem Akapella. In 1999, the group was discovered and hired by the actor Mouss Diouf at the Resevoir Club in Paris. After several gigs and collaborations they ended up as the starting act for Koffi Olomide at Bercy Stadium by Fred Wesley. The group also played alongside Al Jarreau at the Olympia. Esteem released their album Akapella Airlines in 2007. The years he spent with the group Esteem allowed Regis Kole to sharpen his taste for composing. He became very comfortable on stage. His album, Optimistic Sou,l which was released in 2009, is his first solo effort. We discover the sensitivity of a contemporary musician rocked by his African roots. Regis Kole is a wide ranging musician: his writes the lyrics, composes the music and performs, his friends nicknamed him "the melody maker", a talented musician who knows how to play with words. The stage is his favourite playing grounds. He knows how to communicate his overflowing energy Ce n'est pas un hasard si Régis Kole partage la home d'iTunes avec Sade, Micky Green ou encore Corinne Bailey Rae.... Ce sont les différences qui font les richesses, et ça, Régis Kole l'a bien compris et le prouve avec " Optimistic Soul " son premier opus solo. Artiste au grain de voix unique, qui n'est pas sans rappeler celui des plus grand noms de la Motown, il aurait été facile pour lui de nous livrer ce que l'on entend déjà beaucoup. Mais parce que ses influences sont aussi variées qu'elles se complètent, de Michael Jackson à Myriam Makeba, Polyrythmo en passant par Georges Brassens, c'est avec brio qu'il nous emmène avec cet album, en voyage aux frontières de ses deux cultures, de l'Afrique à l'Occident. Porté par de magnifiques et nombreux trésors, l'éclat de ce magnifique album volontaire et abouti réside sans conteste, au delà d'une délicieuse Soul-Pop aux savoureux accents acoustiques et métissés, dans la sensibilité d'un artiste simplement " citoyen du Monde " à l'âme toujours optimiste. Son premier single, Love&Happiness , en est la parfaite illustration.
