The south easts techno scene of late has taken some huge knocks with venues closing shop all over the place and for some reason the stigma attatched to electronic music in general seems to have increased a hundred fold. People getting searched right left and center and by all accounts treated like the freshest pungent peice of turd that the local plod just stepped in in his new freshly shined garda issue size 10's.
It really kills the mood, its like getting a bird home from the local meat market and realising she has a penis.
What do we do now? Where can we go? Is there any scene left?
Well lads, dont worry your sweet little heads... Never mind the bollocks here's Kommunity, a bright shining electronic beacon in todays hopelessly dark days of doomed dance.
Kommunity is a cork based Techno night ran by some of the soundest people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting and held in one of the most wonderful of venues you will ever have the pleasure of sweating your brains out in!
Kommunity is run by DJ Tek from cork (a.k.a Conor O Riordan) and has now teamed up with its partner night Inferno. Combining these two forces they are now supplying Ireland with two of the biggest, heaviest and most musically stimulating Techno nights to be found. They have even gained huge recognition out side of Ireland! Just talking to the DJs before and after the gigs you get the same message: "we've heard tons about this night, we've been dying to play for a while!".
These Guys have thrown some of the most memorable Techno parties to date in the south east with names like Eric Sneo,, Christian Smith, Chris Liberator, Aaron Liberator, D.A.V.E the drummer, Product 19, Darc Marc, Alex Calver, Zoid, Ignition Technician to mention but a few!
Kommunity sure know how to tear up the place and live up to their name.
I could write all day on the subject of Kommunity, but the only thing I can actually say is- Get down there! You need to experience it first hand and what better opportunity than this new years eve!
The guys have a belter lined up- D.A.V.E the drummer, Rachel Rackitt and Kommunity Residents DJ Tek & T-Rev, Complex and Gregg Hartnett.
