Komodo was born from the meeting between Loic (former A&R by DTB Music) and Antoine (known for his releases as Tone on Creamcrop, DTB Music..) around 2003 in Reims, France.
At this time, Loic was brand-new on the production side, while he was mostly busy with managing DTB Music and in care of the production byPOF records from 97-98, and djing around Europe. Tone had already earned strong studio skills since a couple of years.
They naturally started to play music together, a slowler & more cross-over style than the usual well known DTB music pumping offbeat style (including artists such as Yumade, Paps, Tripiatrik, Snug as a Bug, Kent, Klan, Igneous Sauria..)
Some of Komodo's tracks where released over labels such as Novatekk (GER), Millenium (UK), Domo, (ISL), Intersounds (GR) and of course DTB Music (FR).
About Dj-Loic
Loic has been living an exclusive love-affaire together with the electronic scene since 93. After having been enjoying the Paris scene as a party-freak, he started organizing underground techno parties in 95.
Later, in 98, he teamed up with Fred Giteau by POF Records, which was at this time one of the most successful french labels, with a 100+ catalogue. Loic was in charge of Public Relations and Events promotion.
Meanwhile Loic had been djing, playing as a label-dj at POF parties, in France and abroad, playing a mixture of minimal techno and progessive trance.
When POF got closed, Loic spent about 2 years travelling and playing around Europe, while promoting successful events in the Paris Area, introducing fresh artists to the french crowd. He was involved in the organization of the first techno-parade in France, as well as playing regularly in both underground parties&clubs (RexClub, Gibus, La Locomotive..) as mainstream events (PopKomm, LoveParade in Zurich, Munich, Vienna), plus regular live sets on radio-FG.
Around 99, Loic met Pierre-Alexandre Busson, aka Yuksek, formerly known as Dj Péa, half of the monster Duo "Yumade". Together, they were sharing a common vision about dancefloor orientated, psychedelic techno style and decided to create DTB Music.
From 2001 to 2005, DTB Music has been releasing, promoting and distributing acclaimed 12" & CDs, including the successfull second Yumade LP: Klanguage.
As the labelhead, Loic has been performing in various clubs, events and festivals, in London, Brighton, Berlin, Munich, Koln, Hamburg, Bonn, Zurich, Vienna, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Barcelona, Lisboa, Porto, Athens, Moscow, Skopje, Tel-Aviv...
His late night sets always got a pumping feedback from the crowd: right to the floor.
On the same time, he had started producing with Pierre-Alexandre as Klan, and with Antoine Reibre as Komodo, a slower and more housey style.
After a break in 2006-2007, Dj Loic is back on tracks producing and playing again his blend of dancefloor minimal techno & atmospheric layers.
