Kontra Roots Club presents quality acoustic roots music on the 2nd Friday of every month, and is held at Kennedy's Bar in the town of Finedon, on the A6 midway between Kettering and Wellingborough. (Kennedy's is adjacent to the sports ground, by the water tower to the south of the town).
The aim of the club is to provide a platform where the finest roots musicians in the East Midlands and beyond can showcase their talent to an appreciative audience. Each month features three established or up and coming acts drawn from many musical genres, including folk, blues, country, contemporary and world music. Slots last on average between 30-40 minutes.
Organized and hosted by roots musician and songwriter Kevin Buxton (see Top Friends below) the evening runs from 8.00 till 11.00 and admission is free. We provide a top quality PA, and our sound man, Geoff Bland, is one of the best in the county.
Kennedy's is an ideal venue for acoustic music, with a large, characterful function room, complete with stage, and Kontra Roots is dedicated to presenting stimulating and diverse musical entertainment. There's always a great atmosphere, so if you like fine acoustic music do come and join us.
