KOOP is an Austin, Texas community radio station owned and operated by its members. Any member of the community can apply to produce a radio program. KOOP provides facilities and training for any community member interested in joining. KOOP has approximately 77 different locally produced programs airing every week, in time slots of 30, 60, 90, or 120 minutes. Each of these programs is produced by an individual member or by a collective of members. KOOP provides a diverse array of programming, emphasizing programs that deal with local issues and/or serve communities, which are under-served by the mainstream media.

::MISSION:: KOOP.org, 91.7 FM's mission is to provide high quality, innovative, and diverse community-oriented programming to Austin with an emphasis on those communities that are ignored or under-served by mainstream media, including serving and promoting specific communities: African-American, Asian American, Chicanos/as, Elders, Gays and Lesbians, Homeless, Immigrants, Indigenous People, Latinos/as, People with Disabilities, Women, Working and Poor People, Young People, and other communities.
