korean is asian started as a technological joke. Brian Ritchey and Jordan Caress thought it was funny that when they text messaged each other, Jordan became Korean, and Brian became Asian (try it, it's fun). Once they started writing together, though, it got pretty serious. Ritchey and Caress built on their long-standing musical relationship and discovered they could write together with ease. Calling in Jordan's brother Alex Caress to play piano and help with the writing, KIA churned out song after song.
Characterized by haunting harmonies and the organic arrangements of the analog era, korean is asian evoke memories of their favorite heroes and heroines: The Band, Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris, Tom Waits, and Neil Young. But Caress and Ritchey's indie sensibilities meld with their roots to create a one of a kind listening experience.
After just a handful of shows, korean is asian has Nashville buzzing. They are set to record a full length record over the next few months.
