Interests

  • General

Obviously, I like karaoke. It's not something you do for the money. I read webcomics obsessively, enjoy books, talk with friends, love restaurants, and have an unhealthy love of gadgets.

  • Music

I have pretty eclectic tastes, which works with the whole karaoke thing. I tend to gravitate towards Alternative, though. Going backwards, favorites include Maroon 5, Soundgarden, and Oingo Boingo.

Though then there's the whole Celtic Fusion thing...

  • Movies

I have an unexplainable fondness for The Forbidden Zone.

  • Television

Don't watch it. Nothing snobbish or anything, just have other things I prefer doing.

  • Books

Mostly Fantasy. Show me something by Neil Gaiman, and then try to crowbar me away from it...

  • Heroes

Hero of Alexandria. It's in the name. Besides, he invented the first steam engine and the first vending machine around 50 CE.

About me:

I'm a karaoke disc jockey (KJ) in the (mostly southern) San Francisco bay area.

I also do some DJ work, live sound (mostly for weddings, but also for the occasional band), and generally just try to have a good time.

Different KJs handle their shows different ways. My top emphasis is on providing an extensive song list and top quality sound, coupled with a non-judgmental attitude. I like my singers to be able to excel, and many do, but I mostly want people to enjoy themselves, no matter how well, or badly, they sing. After all, this is karaoke, which is the musical equivalent of paint-by-numbers.

It's fun, and I love it, but it's just karaoke.

There's more over at my website, including my over 14,000 track song list.

Who I'd like to meet:

I love meeting people, but I have noticed that I tend to enjoy meeting attractive women more, for some reason. A quirk, I guess.

My best friends (and all my lovers, because all of those have been good friends ..first.., because anything else is just, well, stupid) share a few traits. They're friendly, open to new people and experiences, like to laugh, love to sit around and just talk, know enough about what's going on in the world to have something to talk about (If "JFK needed to go to Dallas like he needed a hole in his head" doesn't strike you immediately as both tasteless and funny, well...), and take the time to try to understand where other people are coming from.

I'll probably like you, whatever you're like, because I'm like that. But if you frequently use phrases like "He's just evil" or "They're just jealous," you're probably only going to get so close, yanno?
