Gueorgui Kornazov | Clips vidéo MySpace ************************* JAZZ/ GUEORGUI KORNAZOV'S "HORIZONS" QUINTET, "VIARA"*** "Le trombone n’a jamais été, à l’égal de la trompette ou du saxophone, un instrument roi du jazz. Mais il fut un temps où il était devenu populaire, avec Tommy Dorsey, avant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, et avec le duo Jay Jay Johnson and Kai Winding, dans les années 1950. Aujourd’hui, le styliste le plus accompli est l’Américain Glenn Ferris – que les palmarès de DownBeat ignorent parce qu’il vit et joue en France. Dans la génération des trentenaires, le Bulgare Georgi Kornazov, formé au classique dans son pays, puis sorti premier de la classe de jazz du Conservatoire national supérieur de Paris en 1998, émerge nettement du lot. Il a appartenu à l’ONJ, au Vienna Art Orchestra de Mathias Rüegg et à divers groupes de grands anciens comme Henri Texier, avec qui il joue toujours. Le nouveau quintette qu’il a formé avec le jeune saxophoniste soprano Emile Parisien, le guitariste de tous les bons coups Manu Codjia, le contrebassiste Marc Buronfosse et le batteur Karl Jannuska a toute chance de devenir un groupe durable car, sur des compositions de son leader, le disque Viara (« espoir », en bulgare) offre une vraie musique où s’entendent des échos de musique folklorique mais surtout l’esprit ouvert et passionné du jazz. Comme soliste, le tromboniste évolue étonnamment entre des sonorités suaves et des raucités expressionnistes à la Roswell Rudd (le trombone free par excellence). On suit aussi avec intérêt les arabesques effusives de Parisien. Quelque chose se passe là d’inhabituel qui appartient à la musique du monde.
