I'm a Swedish guitarist, mostly playing at home and sometimes live with the Steel 'n Blues band. During the last few months I've had a great time fooling around with Cubase, creating backing tracks and smearing reverb-drenched guitar all over them, now that's my idea of fun! Some day I'll try to create a complete song with maybe a verse or two, a bridge and a little chorus. But so far I've been far too impatient for that so what you will all find here is almost nothing but two-chord (or even one-chord) vamps more or less drenched in guitar solos.
About the 'songs':
'Warts 'n all', my newest creation, has nothing to do with Mötörhead. The guitar solo on this one has a frighteningly low hit rate. There are bum notes all over the place, hence the title. Still, there were enough interesting ideas in the solo to make me keep the take. The bum notes add a kind of desperation to the track that is not entirely unpleasant. OK, quite unpleasant but not completely.
'Groovin' is a cute little one-chord vamp with a Fender Stratocaster recorded via a Fractal Axe-Fx amp simulator. (Strat and Axe-Fx are used throughout for solos unless otherwise noted below.).
On 'Captain Hornblower' I enjoyed leading my little virtual band of horns (trumpet, trombone and tenor sax) through stormy waters, across the sea.
'Flour King' is my take on prog-rock, inspired by all those synth-heavy bands from the '70s and onwards. The guitar might have been a Gibson Les Paul on this recording.
'Too Lazy to Play a Real Bass' is a little funky bass-and-drum idea. The bass is all digital, virtual and synthetic as I'm sure you can hear.
Ditty is a little, well, ditty based on a piano improvisation. I am no piano player so I need a few extra seconds for most of the chord changes. As a result, the timing of the piano track was completely off. I tried to get the other instruments to play in time with this out-of-time piano. The result was kind of interesting. The guitar is a Les Paul.
'Two Chords and One Guitar' was a test drive for my newly acquired Amplitube Fender software.
'My Latin Heart' is the odd one out in this collection. (OK, 'Charlotta' is really the odd one out, more on that below). My Latin Heart is about as unplugged as you can get with a computer and a bunch of virtual instruments. The guitar is a Yamaha steel-string recorded using its inbuilt microphone.
'Wish I Was There' is just a little '80s-sounding accompaniment with the ever-present guitar on top of it.
'Charlotta' is something I made in 2004. No guitar in sight on this one, it is a purely symphonic piece complete with vibrant violins, frappant French horns, obedient oboes and thundering timpanis. I had a blast but it sure took some time to get it together. The solo violin is a Strad, recorded using...well, not exactly.
Go kväll farbror Olle! Roligt att se dig här på myspace :), allt väl? Eva sitter bredvid här och är också sugen på att skaffa sig sin egen sida hehe. Ha det fint!
